It Cosmetics’ 4-Piece Collection is QVC Today’s Special Value! Check it out!

March 10, 2014 Katie Marie Leave a Comment

Today I’m really excited to be partnering with It Cosmetics to bring my readers some great news — especially if you are a QVC kind of girl! 😉

First off, for those who aren’t familiar with this brand, It Cosmetics is  makeup company all about “…High Performance, Skin Loving, Problem Solutions!” The founder of this brand, Jamie Kern, suffers from Rosacea, Hyperpigmentation, and all around problematic skin. She works with a team of plastic surgeons to create her innovative, high performance makeup products that focus on helping women solve their beauty problems.

So, the excited news! It Cosmetics is going to be on QVC today!

CC Your Way to Beautiful Skin!
Available March 10 on QVC as the Today’s Special Value

Collection available at a special price for one day only!

That’s right! This great collection by It Cosmetics is schedule to be offered on QVC as the ‘Today’s Special Value” on Monday, March 10, 2014! TODAY!!!! 😀

(For those who aren’t aware, QVC’s Today’s Special Value is when they offer one time each day that is available at an exceptionally low price and only valid from midnight until 2:59AM ET the following day…or while supplies last! 🙂

So what does the It Cosmetics collection contain?? It includes…

— CC+â„¢ Lip Serum Hydrating Anti-Aging Color Correcting Crème Gloss
— Tightlineâ„¢ Waterproof Mascara Primer
— Your Skin But Better CC+â„¢ Cream with SPF 50+ (supersize!)
— Heavenly Luxe® Plush Paddle Foundation Brush

If you purchased every product on it’s own, it would add up to about $130 (some products are new and I couldn’t find the set price yet). QVC will be selling it for only $58.98 — which is insanely low for all these high-quality products! If you do some quick math and rounding, by purchasing this on the Today’s Special Value, you’re saving $70!! Which is an excellent deal for high end makeup!

They even give you a suggestion on how to use all these products in your daily skin-and-beauty-care!

First, start your routine off right with Your Skin But Better CC+ â„¢ Cream with SPF 50+. Using the Heavenly Luxeâ„¢ Plush Paddle Foundation Brush, apply a smooth, even layer to clean skin or on top of moisturizer. This CC Cream combines several products in one step, including SPF 50+ UVA/UVB Broad Spectrum, Physical Only, Non-Chemical Sunscreen.  This is the SUPERSIZE Your Skin But Better CC+ â„¢ Cream with SPF 50+; at 2.53 FL oz, it more than twice the size of the original CC+ Cream!  Be sure to blend this multi-tasking cream all over the face, neck and décolleté to provide the look of an even, hydrating, luminous finish.

Next, prep and prime the eyelashes with a waterproof mascara primer that lasts 12 hours! Lightly and gently press theTightlineâ„¢ Waterproof Mascara Primer wand along the root of the lash line to fill in the gaps between the lashes to achieve the look of full volume and definition. Move along the entire upper lash line for a beautiful and natural liner effect for lashes that appear longer and fuller.Lastly, finish off your look with hydrating vitality! Glide ultra-conditioning CC+â„¢ Lip Serum Hydrating Anti-Aging Color Correcting Crème Gloss in the Love shade over the lips for instant color correction and a lip tone that appears even. It can be worn day or night for improved hydration and a pretty flush of color that lasts!

Again, the It Cosmetics’ “CC Your Way to Beautiful Skin” 4-piece collection will be available for only $58.98, while supplies last, for only ONE DAY on QVC! You can also get this deal on the QVC apps and at QVC.com anytime today — until they’re gone!

So if you’re a fan of It Cosmetics or are curious about their products, I’d encourage you to take advantage of this deal! I was hoping to get my collection in time to review it for you on here today. But I have used a few It Cosmetics products and handled some of their brushes — and they’re all very luxurious and excellent quality.
If I do receive my products before the day is out, I’ll get back on here and update this post with my first impressions of the product — so be checking back here in the late afternoon to see if I have any news for you.
But QVC is pretty popular so these products might go really fast…so…
If you want them, go get ’em now! 🙂

Hairstyling with NuMe – Curls!

March 7, 2014 Katie Marie 47 Comments

I’ve been looking forward to today’s post for a while now, and am so excited to finally share the news! I’ve been working with a lady at NuMe Products and we’ve come up with an exciting series that will be featured on my blog every Friday until my wedding at the end of April! The series, as you’ve probably guessed from the title, is going to be called “Hairstyling with NuMe”!

https://www.newhairbuy.com/

I showcased the flat iron I purchased and the curling wands NuMe sent me for this series on Monday. For today’s post I’m going to be using NuMe’s Titan3 curling wand to show you how to curl your hair. I know this is pretty basic, but once you know how to curl with these wands, you’ll be able to spice up your curls very easily. 🙂

The beauty of NuMe’s wands are that they use the latest in digital and titanium technology — and they’re made from 100% titanium. The wand has digital temperature control ranging from 122 – 392 degree’s — which is all you need to curl your hair. The barrel’s use Infrared Heat and Negative Ion technology, ensuring that your hair stays as healthy as possible. With three barrels to choose from and with it’s ergonomic, sleek design, the variety of designs you can do with these curls are endless!

Make sure you stay till the end of the post…there’s a special surprise for you all!

Alright, let’s dive into this tutorial! 🙂 This is my first time doing a tutorial for my blog, so I hope y’all will stay patient with me as I learn the ropes.

Curls with Titan3’s 25mm Wand

For my curls, I chose the medium-sized wand, the 25mm, and snapped it onto the base. The wand heated up very quickly! I seriously only waited about a minute before it was at the targeted temp — which is great for me, as I have a bad habit of not turning on my heating tools until I’m ready to use them…and then I hate sitting around waiting for them to heat up!
So, Step 1: Heat Protectant

I’m currently using the TRESemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Protective Spray. I apply this liberally throughout my hair and then use a brush to make sure I’ve distributed the product throughout my hair evenly. I give my hair a few minutes to let the product soak in and to ensure that my hair isn’t wet when I begin heat styling — that can lead to fried hair!

Step 2: Section Off Your Hair

Magic Ponytail Hair Extensions

Because I have thick, long hair, I always separate my hair into three sections. The first section I go right above the ears. Then I clip it up with a hairclip (any ol’ clip will work! 🙂 and give the first section of hair another good brush-through. The key to smooth, flawless curls is to make sure your hair is tangle-free and kink-free. These are what causes curls to come out wonky or look frizzy. 🙂

Step 3: Curl a 1″ Strand of Hair

Using the handy glove that NuMe supplies with this curling wand set, I took my first section and wrapped it around the rod. Now, for the pictures, I keep my hands away from the rod (so you could see what I was doing), but I actually like to almost hold the hair around the rod, that way the ends have a nice curl pattern to them as well. This is why the black NuMe glove is so nice — I have a lot more control, being able to touch the barrel without encountering dire consequences. 😉

I’ve already explained why in step 2, but just a reminder — give your hair a comb (I like to use the wet brush) through before doing each curl. It helps!

Okay, so I hold the hair for about 5 seconds, give or take. It really just depends on the thickness of the strand I’m holding. That’s why I like to have my hands on the barrel — when I feel my hair heat up (which, literally, takes less than 5 seconds), I’ll give it a count and then slide it off. If you have easy-to-curl hair, than you probably wouldn’t have to hold it on as long. But for my hair, if I don’t get a good amount of heat to help mold my hair into the desired curl pattern, it will fall within the hour.

Step 4: Cool the Curl in Your Hands

Nothing too fancy here, I just let the curl sit in my hand for 5 or 10 seconds before releasing it. If you have thin or fine hair, you could probably skip this step. But if you have thick hair or hard-to-curl hair, letting the curl cool all wound up will lock in the curl pattern better than if you let it fall, start to straighten, and then cool. I hope that makes sense. 🙂

https://www.niawigs.com/collections/kinky-curly-lace-wigs

And there you have it, the first curl, all purty-lookin’!

Step 5: After Curling the First Section, use Some Hairspray!

This helps to lock in the curl pattern as it finishes cooling. (Again, this is really important for hard-to-curl hair…like mine. 😉 Here I’m using the Redken Forceful Finishing Spray. It works really well — leaves the hair a little sticky if you use too much, but a light misting is all you need. 🙂

And there you go, one section complete!

Step 6: Section off the Next Part

If you have fine hair, you could probably let your hair down and just do one more section. But for me, I have to do 3 sections total, so here I’m separating my hair right at the temples and clipping up the remaining section of hair.

Step 7: Keep Curling!

Just curl the next section, same as before. I keep the wand a little farther away from the head, as it will end up giving you a more natural curled look to your hair, instead of having curled hair all the way to your roots.

Also, I’m switching up curling sections toward my face and away from my face. This is my personal preference, as I like to have curls that are separate and defined, instead of having them all go one direction and clump together. This is entirely your own personal opinion about how you like your hair to lay. For me, I like to switch up the curl pattern. 🙂

Step 8: Spray Each Section as You Go

Each time you finish a section, give your hair a mist of hairspray. And for those with thick hair, go ahead and finish up the last section of hair at the top — staying a little farther away from the root of the hair strand, like you did in the second section.

Yep, once you’re done, give it another quick spray! (can you tell I have a history of stubborn hair?? 😉 Speaking of which, if your hair is really easy to curl, don’t feel like you have to layer on the hairspray! 😉 But I just wanted to include these tips so that if anyone out there is having trouble getting their curls to last, these tips might help. (And a good curling wand, that helps, too! 😉

There you are! A head full of curls! 🙂 Now, don’t touch your hair! Let it cool for at least 5 – 10 minutes. This is important! It will allow your hair cuticle to cool and close on the new shape of your hair strand, and therefore last a lot longer.

Step 9: Break Up the Curls

Now, if you like the curls without brushing through them, than totally skip this step! But I like it to look a little less ringlet-y and more just loose, natural curls. So I take my fingers and (very gently) run them through the strands to break them up. I also give my scalp a little massage to help get any lines out.

Step 10: Add Products

lace front wigs
Sorry for the quality of the picture…

Than I just take one pump of this argan oil (I am not sure where you can buy this specific brand, but there are many brands to choose from at Ulta). to lightly smooth over my hair. It helps to eliminate any frizz that might be going on, as well as adding a beautiful, healthy shine to the curls.

I find that spritzing a bit of sea salt spray into my hair helps seal my curls in place for longer. So I just used this Got2b Beach Trippin Salt Infusion Waving Spray
and then scrunched the curls with a thin towel as a final step.

For me, I always have to do an extra step to amp up the curls just a bit more. So for this occasion I twisted two front sections back and clipped them in place with a mini Flexi-Clip. (If you want a tutorial on this extra step, let me know! It’s really easy to change up how you bring the front pieces back, so let me know and I can do a detailed tutorial of how to achieve this look, with a different ‘twist’ to each! 🙂

And there you have it! That’s how I get my stubborn, difficult-to-hold-a-curl hair to keep curls. And even with all those steps, my curls usually don’t last the entire night…but using the NuMe Titan3, it lasted all night and the next day! 😀 Using the right kind of material when making the heating tools really does make a difference.

And another thing I noticed…when I curl my hair, it usually feels really dry after I wash it. Like it’s damaged. But this time, when I used the Titan3, it didn’t feel any different than it normally does. Which is a  huge plus for me!

What’s In My Mailbox? A Variety of Products! (Large Mail Haul!)

March 3, 2014 Katie Marie 8 Comments

This past week I received a lot of packages and new products — both things sent for me to review and stuff I purchased myself. I couldn’t decide on any one product to feature for today’s “What’s In My Mailbox”, so I decided to just show you them all! 🙂 So consider this post a large mailbox ‘haul’. 😉

I Instagramed this picture a few days ago, showing the large pile of packages I’ve accumulated over the week, for those who didn’t see it. (follow me on Instagram to see more frequent mail hauls!

Oh, and as you can see in the picture, the Influenster J’Adore Voxbox is at the bottom of the pile. I’ve already done a ‘What’s In My Mailbox’ post devoted to the contents of the box, so I encourage you to go check that post out next. 🙂 Okay, so I’m just going to dive in and get started with the first package!

<———–   First up, I received this Pure Body Natural’s Vitamin C Serum through Tomoson.

I’ve only been using this for a week or so, but I really like adding this to my skin care routine at night and I think can already see a brightening effect on my skin. Of course, since I’ve only been using it for a short time, I can’t say for certain the effects of the serum — but I am definitely hopeful and, so far, pleased with the results. I have a lot of hyper-pigmentation from acne breakouts in the past and, so far, it is lightening them up — just a hair. But I’m looking forward to seeing the effects of this serum by the time I finish the bottle. If it improves the dark spots on my face, I will definitely be repurchasing this!

Next up is the It Cosmetics Pretty in smoke Luxe High Performance Trio that the company sent me to review.     ———–>

I haven’t tested this product out yet — as I got it pretty late in the week last week — but I am really excited to create an eyelook with this trio. The color pigmentation in this little trio is great. Really smooth and the color comes off well. And the thing I think is really neat about these eyeshadows are all the vitamin’s infused in the shadows…and how it is free of so many harmful chemicals. So, yeah, I hear a lot of great things about this brand, and I’m really excited to try them out for myself and share my thoughts with you all. 🙂 Be looking for a review in the coming weeks!

<———–   This product I purchased myself at the store and didn’t get it in the mail, but I still wanted to include it. It’s the Garnier Clean+ Nourishing Cleansing Oil.

I am really intrigued by the concept of using oils to wash your face. Because I have acne-prone and oily skin, I think doing this will really improve the overall health of my skin…and maybe help keep any outbreaks at bay. I’m almost out of what I use to wash my face right now, so I’ve been on the hunt to see what I’d replace it with. And I picked this little guy up. 🙂 I am really looking forward to using this in my everyday skin care routine! If any of you are interested in seeing a review, let me know and I’ll make a note to write a review once I’ve used it.

Next thing that I received in my mailbox is this WhipLash Eyelash Curler through Tomoson.      ———–>

I currently own an ELF eyelash curler that I use to occasionally curl my lashes, but I decided to brave up and try a new one. I’m always a little terrified that the curler is going to cut off my lashes, so I am very picky and thorough when I look into and/or try out a new eyelash curler. I’ve inspected this baby pretty well, and while it looks really promising, I haven’t put it to the test yet. Be on the lookout for a review on this in the very near future. 🙂

<———–   I also received a book to review this past week. It is Mesu Andrews new release, In the Shadow of Jezebel, that I received for review from Revell.

I’ve read almost all of Mesu Andrews books, and I really love the way she presents her biblical stories. Where (I feel) too many Christian authors nowadays tend to focus on the physical attractions and physical intimacy between couples in there books, Mesu focuses in on the heart…and the Lord. And she didn’t dissapoint me in this book. Yes, I confess, I’ve already devoured this book (it was so good!), so I’ll be posting my review soon. But I just have to say that I really appreciate how Mesu’s stories always keep God (or Yahweh) and His purpose the center of the story.

I am really excited about this next product! It’s the NuMe Titan3 curling wands. They sent me this to use in a new series I’m doing for the next two months called ‘Styling with NuMe’. But that’s the only hint I’m giving — details coming later this week, so stay tuned!! 😉       ———–>

I haven’t used these on my hair yet, but I’ve taken them out and did my first impression reviews for this tool. They’re really, really nice quality, have a great feel to them, and I love that they have interchangeable heads so I don’t have to own three separate curling wand sizes. And I’m keeping the box for when I move — it keeps the tools really sturdy and secure. And it’s just such a nice box!

<———–   I’ve been eyeing the NuMe MegaStar Flat Iron for a while now…and since I’m now a part of NuMe’s Affiliate program, I thought it about time to invest in a good flat iron.

* * If you want to purchase the MegaStar, use my link and then use the code “2DELICATE” at checkout to get it for only $78! (regularly $199) * *

There are so many great things about this flat iron, I’m going to save it all for the review — as I don’t like to make these length. I’ve been saving up for this flat iron, as it isn’t cheap. But I also really believe in investing in good hair styling tools — it’s really easy to damage your hair with cheap products (my hair is still recovering from being severely damaged through cheap heat tools :-/), so while the price may be steep, the fact that it keeps your hair healthy while still doing it’s job makes it worth every dollar. I can’t wait to put this to the test!

Okay! So, that’s it! (Whew, that was much longer than I thought it would be! :-P) I hope you enjoyed seeing what I got in the mail recently.

For those who are interested/intrigued, I will be talking more about NuMe in the very near future, so be sure to stay tuned. If you want to look around their site, click this link (If you want to support my blog 🙂 and if you decide to purchase anything make sure to use the code “NUMESPRING50” to get 50% off any product and free shipping! 🙂

Question for My Readers: Which product intrigued you the most? Which do you want to see a review for first?

I received some of these product for free in order to review.

LORAC’s Unzipped gives you unlimited choices for rosey-hue looks! (Beauty Review)

February 26, 2014 Katie Marie 10 Comments

Today, as promised, I have the last review for the batch of products that LORAC sent me a few months ago. I’ve really enjoyed trying this brand out, and am really impressed and pleased with their products — even found some favorites to add to my makeup routine! 🙂

For those who might want to find out what other makeup products I reviewed for LORAC, here are the links below.

First Impressions
Multiplex 3D Lipgloss
Front of the Line Pro Eyeliner
Pro to Go Cheek/Eye Palette
Behind the Scenes Eye Shadow Primer
About LORAC Unzipped Palette…

Get UNZIPPED and unleash your natural beauty with LORAC’S universally flattering nude eye shadow palette. Create unlimited head-turning looks with the MINI Behind The Scenes Eye Primer for long-lasting color and 10 ultra-rich, shimmering and matte shadows in a super sexy, nude palette. LORAC: UNZIPPED, UNCENSORED and UNBELIEVABLE!

My Review…

First Impressions…
I’m honestly not a very into pink — I tend to go for darker, more neutral colors. But While this palette definitely is on the pink and rosey side of the color wheel, there were still some darker colors in the palette, and I was excited to try it out. When I swatched it for the first time, I was impressed with the pigmentation and buttery-softeness of all the shadows! As you can see for yourself in the pictures, all the colors show up really well. I didn’t apply primer underneath these swatches, either — I just applied one swipe on my arm of each color.

The Packaging…
The thing that I liked the most about the LORAC Unzipped Palette
is how slender and sleek it is. It’s really compact and has a strong magnetic closure – so no worries about it accidentally opening on you. 🙂 The palette is decorated in a very attractive way, with a neat gold zipper that surrounds the palette — it isn’t raised or anything, but still really attractive, sleek, and shiny. For having so many large eyeshadows in this palette, I think it’s really compact and very travel-friendly. Not only will it be secure during your travels, but you can get a light, every day look as well as a darker, smokier evening look. Very versatile!

Eye Look using Unreal and Unbridled

The Product & Application…
As I already mentioned, the shadows are all very soft and almost have a ‘buttery’ feeling to them. They kind of remind me of the Wet ‘n’ Wild Color Icon trios…but better! 🙂 It’s really easy to create a simple but attractive look in just a few moments – like this eyelook on the right – or create a more elaborate evening look.

There can be a bit of fall out with these shadows, if you really try to pack it all on at once. But I found that when I build up the colors with thin layers, there isn’t as much fall-out. Either way, the fall out doesn’t me at all, as I always do my eye makeup before applying foundation.

Major Dislikes…
Nothing really stands out that I don’t like about the Unzipped Palette
. I do wish it had it’s own black color in the palette — it does have a dark maroon shade, but no black. And for me, I usually like to have my outer V to be really dark. So, for travel, I always feel like I need to include a black eyeshadow along with this palette in order to have a complete look. But this is just for me, personally — you might find that the dark maroon color in this palette is perfect for what you like.

Eye Look using Undercover, Unreal, Untamed,
and a black(not included in palette)

Major Likes…
I like a lot of things about this palette, from the compact design to the large size of the eyeshadows. The pigmentation is great, as I already mentioned. Oh, and I also really liked the names of the shadows in the Unzipped Palette
.

Starting at the top left and ending at the bottom right — “Undercover, Unbelievable, Unattainable, Unconditional, Unbridled, Undiscovered, Unreal, Uncensored, Unspoken, and Untamed.”

Final Thoughts…
This palette is a great one to have in your makeup collection. It has all different hues of rosey neutrals that you can use for a variety of different looks. I’ve heard it compared to the Naked3 palette, and while I haven’t used the new Urband Decay palette, I do know that this LORAC Unzipped can give me looks just like the ones the Naked3 palette gives. 🙂 So if you don’t have a palette that focuses on neutral pinky colors, the Unzipped Palette
is a great way to go!

I received this product from LORAC for free in order to review. It was not required that I give a positive review, but solely to express my own thoughts and opinions of this product, which I have done. I only recommend products and/or services that I have personally used or experienced and like.

What’s In My Mailbox? Influenster J’Adore Voxbox!

February 24, 2014 Katie Marie 4 Comments

Good Monday morning, all! Make sure you take a look at the giveaways on my sidebar on the right. The giveaway for a DVD of Grace Unplugged is ending tonight — don’t miss out!

———————————>>>>

For those who follow me on Instagram know, I received my Influenster box in the mail last week, this one called the J’Adore Voxbox. I’ve reviewed two other boxes from them before — the Sweetheart Voxbox and the Violet Voxbox — and was excited to receive another box from them to put to the test. 🙂

Remember: If you are interested in joining, please let me know in the comments below and I will be happy to send you a personal invite to join! 🙂

For those of you who don’t know about Influenster, it’s a “…community of trendsetters, social media masterminds, and educated consumers who live to give opinions of products and experiences.” When you are active in the Influenster community (sharing reviews and answering questions), Influenster invites you to participate in exclusive Voxbox programs where they send you a box filled with things to try and review.

It’s always exciting to open to see what’s inside. 🙂 This time I received…

– Boots Botanics Shine Away Ionic Clay Mask
– Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolates
– Frizz Ease 3-Day Straight Flat Iron Spray
– Kiss Looks So Natural Lashes
– Red Rose Simply Indulgent Teas

I know I did a terrible job getting all the products visible in this picture (my bad!), but we’re going to go down and give you a really quick first impression of all the products. 🙂

Boots Botanics Shine Away Ionic Clay Mask…
I was really excited about this product. I use a clay mask once a week to help keep my acne under control, and I really enjoy the benefits and results that I get. So I am all about putting this to the test! Let me just forwarn you — this mask is pretty liquidy! Make sure you shake it up before opening it so you mix the liquid and clay, or you’ll do like I did and get a rush of water shooting out and onto your lap. 😛 Haha! Anywho, I’ve already used it once and liked it. Now to wait and see if it makes a difference on my skin. 🙂

Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolates…
I’m sure this is a no-brainer, but I was super-excited to get this huge bag of Kisses with the box. I already know I love chocolate, and Hershey Kisses have always been on my “like list”. So, yeah, I think it took all of 5 seconds after opening the box before I cracked this bag opened. I snapped a picture of the cookies I made with these over on Instagram. They sure were yummy — and I still had some left over after I make all the cookies! 😀

Frizz Ease 3-Day Straight Flat Iron Spray…

I’ve never used anything from this brand, but I am thrilled to get the opportunity to! This flat iron spray has some high claims, and I am all about putting it to the test. As those of you who’ve followed my blog for some time know, my hair can be pretty frizzy-looking if I don’t flat iron it. I’m excited to try it out and see if it keeps my hair straight and frizz-free for three days. 🙂

Kiss Looks So Natural Lashes…

Okay, I’m going to be straight-up honest here, and say I’m not really that into fake lashes. I’ve put on individual lashes once — and only because I had to during Cosmetology school — and it wasn’t a thrilled experience. Now, I know individual lashes are harder to put on than a strip, so that makes me feel a little bit better about trying these out. I’m curious how I’ll like these — I don’t mind getting a little bit more volume and length…but I don’t want to look like a spider’s on my eyeball! (ew!) So, anywho, we shall see when I give them a try. 🙂

Red Rose Simply Indulgent Teas…

I’m not a huge tea person, but I do get in the mood sometimes and enjoy curling up on the couch with a cup of hot tea. 🙂 I received three Creme Caramel and one Lemon Chiffon — which I was happy about. The Caramel one sounds like something I will enjoy!
And those are all the items I received for review. Be keeping your eyes out for the reviews in the coming weeks. 🙂

Question for Readers: Out of all the products I received, which are YOU most intrigued about? 🙂

I received this product for free from Influenster in order to review. It was not required that I give a positive review, but solely to express my own thoughts and opinions of this book, which I have done. LORAC has your eyes taken care of with their Behind the Scenes Eyeshadow Primer! (Review)

February 21, 2014 Katie Marie 10 Comments

Good Friday afternoon, everyone! I hope your week has gone well, and I’m sure y’all are looking forward to the weekend like I am. 🙂 February is going by soooo quickly, it’s crazy to think that there’s only one week left in this month.

So for today I’m featuring another LORAC product review. 🙂 These have been really fun and I’ve really enjoyed putting all these products to the test. For reference – and those who are new to my blog – below are the links to the LORAC products I’ve reviewed in the past few months. 🙂

First Impressions
Multiplex 3D Lipgloss
Front of the Line Pro Eyeliner
Pro to Go Cheek/Eye Palette

Crazy enough, I only have one more review to bring to you next week, and it’s for LORAC’s Unzipped palette, so be sure to stay tuned! I know when I did my First Impression’s post, I also received the foundation. Unfortunately, something happened during shipping and the foundation leaked and the pump was broken. But! I hope that these past reviews have given you a good feel for LORAC’s products and their quality/performance, even without the foundation review. 🙂

So, enough talk, let’s dive right in!

About LORAC Behind the Scenes Eye Primer…

Get LORAC’s Behind the Scenes Eye Shadow Primer and all eyes will be on you! This gentle, lightweight, oil, fragrance and paraben-free formula keeps your eye shadow picture-perfect from daytime to Prime Time. Created by Celebrity Makeup artist Carol Shaw to be used Behind The Scenes on photo shoots and on the Red Carpet, this unique eye shadow primer easily glides on for crease-resistant, silky-smooth color that lasts!

My Review…

First Impressions…
I received a deluxe sample size of this product (0.19 oz compared to the full size tube of 0.53) with the Unzipped palette. I was really excited, as the few drugstore eye primers I’d tried in the past never held up on my super-oily eyelids. So I was all about putting this product to the test, even if it was just a deluxe sample size.

And if you think about it, even with a deluxe sample, it still gives you a LOT of uses. You only use a pea-size on each eyelid — I’ve been using this eye primer almost on a daily basis for the past 4 months, and there’s still a lot left in it. So I’m totally happy with the size, and that it comes with the palette when you purchase it on the LORAC site.

The Packaging…
As a disclaimer, let me again mention I only have the deluxe sample size, not the full-size one you can purchase from LORAC. But they appear to be very similar — the full size just being bigger. 🙂

So, all that being said, I really like the packaging! It’s a squeezable tube with a small opening at the top, which makes it easy to only dispense the exact amount that I’ll need. The tube is really sleek and visually appealing, I think. The top also twists on really tight, which is nice to know that it won’t dry out or leak or anything. 🙂

The Product & Application…
As I mentioned it above, I have incredibly-oily eyelids. If I ever put on eyeshadow without primer, there will be major creases on my lids after only an hour. I’ve tried primers from Elf, mark., Essence, and L’Oreal before this one, and none of them held up that well. They did make my eyeshadows last longer, but only a few hours. And for me, when I do my eyes, I want them to last from the time I put them on (usually mid morning) until I take them off at the end of the night. So some days that can be around 12 hours! And the ones I’d tried just didn’t work.

And then I used the LORAC Behind The Scenes
Eye Primer
.

And I haven’t used any other eye primer since! This product is so great! It varies just a little bit, depending on the quality of the eyeshadows I put over it (for example, if I use a cheaper, not as pigmented brand, it might only last 8 or 10 hours. But when I use the LORAC eyeshadow colors on top of this, my eyes last for more than 12 hour — without creasing! And my eyeshadow still looks as pigmented as when I first put it on that morning.

This fact totally sold me on this product. It has carried me through so many long, busy days keeping my eyes looking as fresh as when I first applied it. For me, I’m really all about the eyes when I do my makeup — I love taking the time to make them look just the way I want them. So for me, a primer that will last is really important — there’s no way I want to put all that energy into a dramatic eye look for it to last only a couple of hours. This primer is outstanding for me!

Major Dislikes…
I honestly can’t think of any. I love everything about this product! The price is slightly high — $21. But LORAC is known for being high-end and, really, when you think about it, it isn’t really that bad. You get 0.5 oz of product, and so far my 0.19 oz has last me 4 months and counting. Well worth the money, in my eyes, to spend $20 once a year or so. 🙂

Major Likes…
That it lasts for hours! I know I’ve already said a ton about it, so I won’t go into any more detail. 🙂 The product itself is more of a lotion-y texture and feels nice when you smooth it over your eyelids. I really like that the primer isn’t think or cakey — the Behind The Scenes
almost melts into your skin.

Final Thoughts…
I’m pretty sure this goes without saying — after reading my review so far — but I LOVE this product! Everything about it is outstanding! There’s no smell to this product (I forgot to mention), and a little bit goes a long way. Oh, I forgot to mention, I think LORAC has so many cute names! (like Front of the Line for their eyeliner, and now Behind the Scenes for their eye primer.) It’s really neat and, maybe I am weird, but I enjoy using products with fun names. 😀 If I am ever putting on my makeup at the beginning of a long day, Behind The Scenes is the primer I always reach for.

I received this product from LORAC for free in order to review. It was not required that I give a positive review, but solely to express my own thoughts and opinions of this product, which I have done. I only recommend products and/or services that I have personally used or experienced and like..

My Review…

First Impression…
I was really excited to get to review the Plug-In Scented Oil Customizables by Glade that alternate between two scents on a daily basis. I am a big fan of Glade’s scented candles and love the Hawaiian Breeze and Vanilla Passion Fruit combo candle that they sell. So, of course, that’s the Plug-In that I got to review! 🙂 There’s just something about the Hawaiian Breeze mixed with the Vanilla Passion Fruit that just smells SO good…almost to the point of being edible! 😀

Packaging/Quality…
Glade really did a lovely job with the packaging of this product. It’s got a really cute latticework that is in a dome shape and covers the oils. It can flip up (as shown in the pictures) to make changing out the oil bottles easier. While it’s all plastic, it feels really sturdy and good quality. There’s even a button on the side that will control how strong the scent comes out of the plug in — which is really nice! At first, I had it on the strongest setting, but that was just too much. So I really appreciated being able to turn it down a few notches so that you just get an overall light and pleasurable scent in the room.

Performance…
This works amazingly well! From the moment you plug it in, you can start to smell the scents. For the combo I got, the Hawaiian Breeze is a bit stronger than the Vanilla Passion Fruit, but both are very nice smelling. I also tested out how long this product lasts and am very pleased to see that, while I’ve plugged it in almost every day for the past week, you can barely tell that any oil is gone from the bottles. Which tells me that these will last a decent amount — at least the 60 days that Glade is boasting of.

Major Likes…
The scent! Haha, okay, while I totally love this smell, I know that’s very subjective and will differ between people. So I will say that my favorite thing about these Plug-Ins Scented Oil Customizables is the packaging. The latticework that covers it is really attractive and makes me want to plug this in somewhere that will help enhance the decor of the room. 🙂

Major Dislikes…
Hmm…there really isn’t any thing that comes to mind that I didn’t like. The scent is nice, you can control how strong it is, and you have the ability to only plug it in for as long as you want. If I had to name anything I disliked about this product, it would be the name. Haha, I know, weird! But I just think that Plug-Ins Scented Oil Customizables is a long name that doesn’t really flow. 😛

Final Thoughts…
If you haven’t been able to tell from this review so far….I thoroughly enjoy these scented oil plug ins! They are super handy to use — especially if you have little ones in the house and don’t want to be leaving burning candles out for them to get a hold of. It’s also really nice that you can plug it in for a few hours, then put it away and still smell the lingering scents for hours afterwards. I give this product from Glade two big thumbs up! 🙂
