I was born in Alaska and lived in the chilly North Pole for the first 7 years of my life. My parents then moved down to Florida, and that’s where we have been ever since.
I’m the 3rd eldest in a family of 10 kids — 2 boys and 8 girls. My mom is a distant relative of Superwoman and not only birthed us all naturally (no C-sections or twins), but also homeschooled each and every one of us. ๐ Yep, she’s pretty amazing!
During my last two years of high school I was able to dual-enroll at my local collage and graduation from high school with my AA degree. I went on to enroll in cosmetology school. The program was a year and a half total, and I am now a certified cosmetologist in the state of Florida.
I met my husband at the end of 2012 when he was stationed in my hometown to finish his training. He is a Flight Surgeon in the Navy and we were married on April 26th, of 2014. (If you want to hear the whole romantic story, read this post first and then this post next (it’s the most exciting event in my life! ๐ )
We moved to California for the first year of our marriage and then my husband was picked up as a Radiology Resident in Virginia, which is where we are currently living. We had our first daughter in December of last year and while being a new mom keeps me plenty busy, I still love to spend time doing the passions that I love. And one of those passions happens to be beauty!
My favorite aspect of beauty would definitely be makeup! I love trying out new products, and creating different looks.
Personally, even if I’m just going to be staying around the house during the day, I still love to put on a full face of makeup and try out a new combination of eyeshadows on my eyes. It just makes me feel so inspired.
BTW, I LOVE me some winged eyeliner! ๐
Other things that I really enjoy doing during the day would be (In no particular order): painting my nails, reading a good book, researching the newest beauty product on the web, watching beauty guru’s on Youtube, writing a post for my blog, baking something yummy, or Skyping with one of my siblings back home…
…and chatting with you all on any of my social media handles! (My favorite is Instagram! ๐ )
And there you have it — a quick look into my life. ๐ Thanks for reading!

Hello there! I am so happy I came across your IG so ofcourse I followed you in snapchat and now just read your “about me” on your blog. After reading it I realized that we have a lot in common. You have very fun and informative info on your social media. Thanks so much for sharing! Now I my if I can take the plunge and turn my passion into a reality myself. Just afraid of the “what-ifs” as far as my family and how to do it all. It’s all so overwhelming but I’m sure when you have a passion for something you’ll see t through. Right??
Looking forward to follow your lead! ?

Awww, thank you Carolina! Yes, it can be very hard and scary to take the plunge. I was fortunate in that I started my blog and got my passion going before I got married — and specifically before having children. Some days it can be very difficult to juggle everything, and honestly I think if I didn’t do well with little sleep I would’ve had to give up blogging a long time ago. Thankfully, though, 6 or so hours a night is all I need to be functional, so I am able to work on my blog every night after my little one goes to bed. ๐
It takes a LOT of work and dedication before you start seeing it pay off, but since I enjoy what I do, I didn’t mind the work. It started out as a hobby, anyway, because I love to write and play with makeup. It’s just a perk that I am able to receive stuff to try out or be paid to write posts now. It helps cover the cost of equipment, new makeup releases, and giveaway products so in my eyes I’m not really ‘making money’. Just being able to enjoy my passion — writing about makeup. ๐
Thanks for stopping by, and for following me on my social media! <3

Hi Katie,
I have been wanting to drop you a line. It is interesting to read about your family and I felt an instant connection. I am the oldest of 6 kids. My mom homeschooled all of us. A couple of us did go to the Mennonite School for a little while. I met my husband(Dan) on eharmony and I got married and moved to PA in Jan 2007. I was extremely overweight when I got married. We really wanted children. I decided that I needed to lose weight so that I could be healthy enough to keep up with them. I had gastric bypass in 2008. My husband has always been super supportive of me and NEVER once said a word about my weight. His only complaint was I am SO SHORT! Hahaha. The one thing i really can’t fix. Anyway in 2010 i had surgery to remove the excess skin from my body. It was the biggest mistake of my life. For a year I spent the bulk of my time on the couch doubled up in pain. Finally a dr was able to get things under control enough I could function. I am a nurse and have been since 2004. In spite of everything we have been unable to get pregnant. It has been heart wrenching. Most of my siblings are now married. I have a brother just younger than me that has been going through the same wanting a baby and unable to have one. The siblings in the middle each have 3 my sister has 3 boys and my brother has 3 girls. They are so precious I could eat them up. Because of the distance issue I see them a couple times a year. My youngest sister went into missions and was in Nepal for 5 months. She isnt married and seems to have no desire. She is planning to get a teaching degree and go into long term missions. Your channel is a bright spot to me! I love your personality and find your little ones incredibly precious! Often times in Olivia I see my niece Hannah. Some of the things I say she thinks or whatever is what I imagine she would say. Thanks for the clean content you put up. Your voice is so soothing. Wish you were next door so we could have coffee. Guess I will just have to have coffee and watch your videos. Have a blast with your family. I am really excited to see how your channel continues to grow over the next year. I wanted to privately email you but have been unable to figure out how. I am not on any other social media. Hopefully this way is ok with you. CONGRATULATIONS on your one year anniversar! Hugs, Joni
