December 5, 2014 Katie Marie 3 Comments

I know I’m a little late to the game with bringing you BoxyCharm’s November box, but we can still enjoy looking through the boxy together, can’t we!? πŸ™‚

What’s Inside BoxyCharm’s November Box

BoxyCharm always does a beautiful job with their packaging. They really make it special to the receiver and an aspect of the company that I appreciate.

For November BoxyCharm, they’re focusing on everything that sparkles and shines, getting you ready for the holidays. πŸ™‚

As usual, they included 5 full-size products in this box.

The products are…

Kevin.Murphy Color.Bug hair Chalk
MICA Beauty eye primer
BellaPierre Eyeshadow
Tarina Tarantino Glitter Eyeliner
OFRA Blush

The box was really diverse when it comes to beauty — another aspect that I really appreciate about the company. There was blush, eye primer, eyeshadow, and glitter liner. I was most excited about the eye primer and eye liner.

While I am not a fan of glitter liners, I am glad I can add this to my collection as my first glitter liner. I plan to use it this holiday season.

Surprisingly, the liner is very pigmented with color. And the sparkle in it is really pretty. I can’t wait to use this for my winged liner. How neat will that look?!

The blush they sent in this month’s box was from OFRA. The color looks a bit bright for my tastes, but I will give it a go.

The nice thing about blushes that are too bright is that you can just use a very light hand and it will work out fine.

The blush has a lot of sparkle in it, but when I swatched it on my hand (above) it actually didn’t show up with that much sparkle. Which is good, for me, as I don’t care for sparkle in my face products.

As I mentioned, this was probably the product I was most excited about getting in the box. I’m always on the lookout for ways to help my eyeshadows to last all day. The consistency of this reminds me of the Maybelline Color Tattoos, but I find that it’s more sticky and wet than those.

I’ve heard some people wonder if this could be a dupe for the MAC’s Paint Pot in Soft Ochre. I’ve never tried this product before, so I can’t tell you that. But it looks like a great product. It’ll help me cover all the veins on my eyelid.

Anyone like to use hair chalk? Than you will like this next product! I, honestly, do not care for hair chalk — my hair is darker, so it wouldn’t show up as well. And I’m just not into hair chalk, really. But I’ll pass it along to a friend who will enjoy it.

The color was rather difficult to swatch — it took me several passes to get it this pigmented. I’ve never tested out hair chalk before, so not sure if this is normal. But it’s neat. If I was a blonde, I would definitely give this a try. πŸ™‚

Last product in the box was from a company called Bella Pierre. I’ve never heard of this brand before, but after testing out the loose eyeshadow, I was pretty impressed.

I am a really, really big fan of green eyeshadows, and this one appears to have a green and brown duo-chrome kind of finish. It’s really beautiful!

The Value of BoxyCharm’s November Box

Let’s do the math!

MICA Beauty Eye Primer – $44.95
OFRA Cosmetics Pressed Blush – $24.95
Tarina Tarantino Eyelicity Glitter Liner – $16.00
Keven.Murphy Color.Bug – $20.00
Bella Pierre Shimmer Powder – $14.99
TOTAL = $120.89

This is the most valuable box I’ve received so far. And I’m lovin’ it! I didn’t realize the MICA eye primer was so expensive until I looked at the card. Whoa — I’m going to love using it! πŸ™‚

Question to My Readers: Have you ever used hair chalk before? Do you like it?

BoxyCharm’s September Box Came Out Just in Time for Fashion Week (September Unboxing)

September 22, 2014 Katie Marie 3 Comments

Before I dive into today’s post, just wanted to explain that I had hoped to do this unboxing earlier in the month. But I visited my family back in Florida for the first half of the month, and with a mix up of addresses the box came here to my home in California.

All that to say, next month I should have my unboxing up earlier in the month. And then I would also like to come back with a review at the end of the month and show you a look where I use all the products. Would you like that?

What’s Inside of BoxyCharm’s September Box?
We can’t dive into a BozyCharm without first taking time to enjoy the cute packaging that it arrives in.

It’s sooooo cute!

And I had to snap a picture of the pretty “Fashion Week Fabulous” card that greets you when you first open the box. On the back of this card is where they give you additional information on the products you received, as well as the retail price of each item.

I was really excited to see that there was an eyeshadow palette from Coastal Scents in this month’s box — I love eyeshadows and haven’t had an opportunity to try any CS products.

All the products are so exciting this month! I seriously can’t wait to dive in and start trying these products out.

First up was a very pretty perfume. I had a slight problem with this product leaking, but since it was encased in bubble wrap it didn’t ruin anything. And there wasn’t that much leakage, thankfully. The scent is floral and sophisticated — definitely something I would wear. This full-size vial retails for $29.

For those who saw my August Unboxing post, you know that I received a lipstick from this brand and loved the luxurious feel of it. This mascara is no different — it feels so expensive just to hold it!

I’m really hoping that this gives me the lashes I like. πŸ˜€ This mascara retails for $19.

Next, the product that I was the most excited about — Costal Scents Go Palette in Cairo, which retails for $12.95

I can’t beleive it, but I totally forgot to take a picture of these colors swatched. If you would like to see that, leave a comment below and I can post it over on my Instagram account. I LOVE the coloring in this palette — definitely something I will use!

I love painting my nails, and BoxyCharm couldn’t have sent me a more fitting color — I love dark colors, especially those in the brown family. This is a beautiful chocolate brown that seems pretty opaque. Can’t wait to do my nails! This NCLA nail varnish retails for $16.

The last item in the box is Tarte Cosmetics’ LipSurgence…

…in exposed. πŸ™‚ This full-size product retails for $19.

As you can see, it has a really unique applicator — one side of it is very flat. I assume this will make it easier to apply, but we shall see.

I was a bit disappointed in the swatch — it seemed more sheer and thin, and I was hoping it would be as creamy and rich as the bottle made it appear. But I’m not giving up on it yet — will put it to the test. πŸ™‚

All in all, it was a great box for Fashion Week. Definitely filled with appropriate makeup. πŸ™‚ As I’ve already mentioned many times, I am looking forward to trying all these products out and can’t wait for next month’s box. πŸ™‚

Let’s do the Math!

Tarte LipSurgence Lip Gloss – $19
Coastal Scents Go Palette – $12.95
NCLA Nail Lacquer – $16
Tarina Tarantino Fleur de Lash Mascara – $19
Hello by Harvey Prince Fragrance – $29
TOTAL = $95.95

Not too shabby — you pay $21 and get 5 full size products that value nearly at a hundred dollars!

BoxyCharm has You Hitting the Beaches (August Unboxing)

August 27, 2014 Katie Marie 4 Comments

Today I’m really excited to share a BoxyCharm unboxing with you all. Never heard of BoxyCharm? No worries, I’ll explain (and get you hooked!) below. πŸ˜‰

Warning: this post is picture heavy!

What is BoxyCharm?

BOXYCHARM is an online beauty subscription that surprises you each
month with name-brand beauty essentials. Our goal is to enhance your
current cosmetic collection by delivering trendy and popular beauty
items right to your front door. Our beauty experts have years of
experience in the health and beauty industry and are dedicated to
selecting the essentials that they know you will love. Each month, you
will receive a beautifully crafted box with full size and luxury size
beauty items.

Let us do the work! BOXYCHARM removes the hassle of picking the right
beauty products. The beauty items are carefully selected to promote
creativity and glamour. Your BOXYCHARM also includes a card with a
description of the beauty items received, keeping you savvy and excited
about your new items. It’s also a great idea for a gift! Our BOXYCHARM
can be delivered to your friends and family for any special occasion. So
what are you waiting for? Be charmed!

And just to add, it’s $21 a month and you get 5 full size products.

BoxyCharm sent me August’s box in the hopes that I would feature the contents in a blog post. I’m not paid to write this post and none of the links are affiliate — I just think this is a really awesome subscription box that you really get your money’s worth out of!

Stick around till the end of the post and I’ll break down how much this box is actually worth!

What’s Inside of BoxyCharm’s August Box?

Your products come in this cute box that has a printed ribbon and bow around it.

Each box that BoxyCharm sends out has a special theme to them. As you can see, August’s theme was all about the beach. πŸ™‚ So it’s all about the bronzed and beautiful look. Let’s see if the product’s live up to this expectation!

And don’t forget to stop and appreciate the sweet message on their box πŸ™‚

Packed with the product is this fun white and gold shredded paper. πŸ™‚ As you can see, I received 5 FULL SIZE products in my box. They all were from brands I hadn’t heard of before, but looked like great quality.

The first thing I pulled out from the box was this makeup brush. It’s from Morphe Brushes and it’s they’re Powder Brush and it retails for $19.99. So, right there, this first product is almost the same price as the box itself (and we still have 4 products to go!)
The brush is very soft, though I’m not sure yet how it will work on applying bronzer…which is the next item in the box!

This product is called OFRA Cosmetics Americano Bronzer and is a pretty, powdery bronzed color.

(I apologize for this swatch not being so bright…I’ll work on it!) As you can see the bronzer appears to have just a little bit of shimmer/sparkle to it. I’m curious it see how this looks when I apply it on my skin. This bronzer retails for $35.

The third product I pulled out of the box was also from OFRA Cosmetics and it was their Eyeliner in Green Go.

This product retails for $13 and is a beautiful hunter green with shimmer.

This swatch was only once on my arm, and as you can see it looks really pretty. Not sure how I am going to use this eyeliner (I tend to just use black liners), but I look forward to trying!

Next up is the ModelCo‘s CHEEK + LIPS Cheek & Lip Tint in Rosy Red. I have never used a cheek stain before — I do use and love my cream blushes — but I am looking forward to trying this one out.

This product has really cute packaging — I love it! This full size product retails for $13.

So when you first squeeze it out, it looks like the picture above. Then…

As you blend it out, it has this jelly-ish texture and looks very bold and bright red. But…

Once you fully blend it out, it leaves your skin with this beautiful, natural summery blush. You only need the teeniest amount (I used too much in the swatches above), so this 0.04 oz tube will last you a very long time!

And the last product in the BoxyCharm’s August box was Tarina Tarantino’s Conditioning Lip Sheen!

This is one fancy lipstick, let me tell you! You wouldn’t believe how heavy-duty this tube feels when you hold it in your hand. It just feels high quality!

This full-size conditioning lip sheen retails for $22.

I love the feel of this lip sheen on my lips. It’s very velvety and smooth. And the color is perfect!

And that was all of the product’s in my August BoxyCharm box! πŸ™‚ Did it hold up to it’s theme of Beach Babe? I think so! The bronzer, cheek tint, brush, and lip sheen are definitely perfect for the beach. The eyeliner doesn’t stand out to me as being ‘summery’, but it’s still pretty!

I love my BoxyCharm box and can’t wait to start using the products!

Let’s do the math!

OFRA Cosmetics’ Bronzer – $35
Tarina Tarantino Lip Sheen – $22
ModelCo Cheek & Lip Tint – $22
Morphe Powder Brush – $19.99
OFRA Cosmetics’ Eyeliner – $13
TOTAL = $111.99

Wow! So you’re paying $21 and you get 5 products that add up to over $100. That’s so impressive!

If you’ve never heard of BoxyCharm, I would encourage you to check them out! There are many subscription services out there, but I like that this one is at a reasonable monthly rate and gives you several products that are full size!

Question for My Readers: Do you want to see a makeup look where I use all of these products on my face?? Have you heard of BoxyCharm before today? Does it interest you?

I
received one or more of the products mentioned above from
BoxyCharm in the hopes that I would mention them on my blog. Regardless,
this does not guarantee a review or feature on my blog. I only share information that I think will be useful for my

5 Purse Essentials Every (Practical) Makeup Junkie NeedsYou guys know I am a self-declared makeup junkie…it’s obvious if you’ve seen any of my makeup declutter videos! But when it comes to being a beauty junkie on the go, I seriously fail at it! I hardly ever touch up my makeup, or remember to bring along a ‘lipstick of the day’ to reapply. Maybe it’s because I’m a mom and I always have a thousand other things on my mind when I am not at home…but to be honest, I was this way before Olivia came along. With all that said, though, there are a handful of things I DO keep — and use regularly — from my purse that I feel like any woman would benefit from having in their purse. Even if you’re not a makeup junkie — so take this list as tips for the more practical makeup addict. πŸ™‚
