I have owned this palette for almost a year and I am finally sharing my review. I know I mentioned it when I reviewed the Bon Bons palette, but this Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette is my favorite out of the three chocolate bars in the collection. Ready to see why I love this palette so much??

The packaging is, as you probably already know, the same as the original packaging except it’s not as deep a chocolate brown — hence the semi-sweet! 😉 The box that your palette comes in is also really cute, if only I could find some use for the boxes that my makeup products come in! Any ideas to repurpose…I’m all ears!
As with the original Chocolate Bar Palette — which I also review HERE a few years ago — this Semi-Sweet one also smells like chocolate. It makes doing my makeup so enjoyable! Ready to take a look at each of the shades? Because while I do love this palette, there are definitely a few duds.
Swatches
Swatched twice on the arm, no primer was used
Licorice // At first glance I thought it had sparkle in it, but it doesn’t. It’s a really nice dusty black.
Coconut Creme // Amazing matte highlight. It isn’t patchy and doesn’t have a lot of fall out. Great shade!
Nougat // This is a great matte. Blends perfectly, I like to use this to start warming up the crease.
Truffled // A deeper brown, I sometimes just use this to darken up my outer corner instead of the black. Works great, an awesome matte!
Hot Fudge // This is a great shadow, no complaints about the quality. I just personally don’t use this dark a shade that has shimmer.
Cocoa Chili // It looks like a sparkly brown, but it comes off as more of a satin brown with faint sparkle.
Pink Sugar // This shade….no. Just no. It just comes off as a translucent shadow with pink sparkle. I guess it works as a eyeshadow topper…
Puddin’ // A cool-tone brown, this works beautifully when I don’t want a warm crease. I sometimes will just use Coconut Creme, Nougat, and Puddin’ to create an every day, matte eyeshadow look.
Blueberry Swirl // Another dud in the palette, as you can see from the swatch. But! I was able to make it work, as you can see in the eye look below.
Peanut Butter // I love this shade. Another fantastic matte that works perfectly for me as a crease shade when I want a warm-toned look.
Frosting // This shade is stunning. You don’t need any help to make this shimmer shine. It’s a really beautiful brassy gold/bronze shade!
Rum Raisin // It looks like a boring taupe, but with a spritz of Fix+ it turns into this beautiful taupe color that I use frequently. Not patchy or dusty at all!
Mousse // As always, this matte shade is gorgeous. Blends like a dream…I’m probably sounding like a broken record by now!
Caramel // I don’t use this near as much as Bon Bon, but it is still a beautiful shade. I love using it wet the best!
Bon Bon // This is the shade I starred in my fall-inspired makeup look. I just love it! It works well on its own, but if you put an eyeshadow primer underneath, it really shines.
Butter Pecan // Not intense color, it shows up more as a translucent shimmer. It works beautifully as an inner corner highlight or any eyeshadow topper. Lovely!
Eye Looks
Now let’s take a look at the eyeshadow looks I created using only this palette!
I wanted to use the Blueberry Swirl in an eye look just to see how ‘good’ I could get it, even though it swatched really sad. And as you can see, it turned out pretty well. Please excuse the lousy blending in the inner part of the eye and the blurry images…I did this eyelook shortly after I got this palette and both my makeup and photography skills were a bit rough.
And then these two eye looks I created using this palette, and have tutorials for each right here on the blog! Click HERE for the day time smokey eye, or HERE for the fall-inspired eye look. I love both of these looks and recreate them frequently. Which is your favorite?
My Overall Thoughts
I really can’t think of many cons when it comes to this palette. The price is high at $49, but you get 12 great quality shadows, which is just like getting the cult-favorite palette that costs $5 more. If you like the colors in this palette, I highly recommend it. The palette is cute, it smells amazing, the quality on the majority of shades is outstanding, and the Semi-Sweet palette is something that you will get use out of on a daily basis.
Tell me what you think! It’s been out for a while, so chances are you’ve owned it or tested it out in stores. Which Chocolate Bar palette is your favorite??
Any questions about my disclosure, read here. Thank you for your support!

I own zero Too Faced palettes, which is such a shame! They are all so cute. I will definitely keep in mind that this is one of your favorites when I’m shopping next 🙂

I actually like this palette more than the original Chocolate Bar (which I’ve now palmed off on my sister). The caramel shades are beautiful!

Beautiful look! But I will always be true to the Original Chocolate Bar. I love it.
