5 Ways to Get Summer-Ready Skin

March 29, 2016 Katie Marie 28 Comments

Summer is just around the corner and it's intense heat and beautiful beach days will be here before we know it. But, if you've been like me this past winter...I have really neglected to care for the dry skin on my body like I should. Summer is just around the corner and it’s intense heat and beautiful beach days will be here before we know it. But, if you’ve been like me this past winter…I have really neglected to care for the dry skin on my body like I should. Today I’m sharing 5 tips to help you transition from the winter dullness and give you summer ready skin!

Dove has released a new Dove Dry Oil Collection featuring their Dove Dry Oil Beauty Bar and Dove Dry Oil Moisture Body Wash. Softer, smoother skin!In today’s post I’ve partnered with Dove to tell you all about their New Dove Dry Oil Collection featuring their Dove Dry Oil Beauty Bar and Dove Dry Oil Moisture Body Wash. Softer, smoother skin is something every woman desire, however 1 in 3 women suffer from dry skin and 98% of women feel more confident when their skin is moisturized vs. dry. What better way to banish the dry, flaky skin from the winter than with a body wash and cleanser that is infused with Argan Oil?

Tips to Get Summer Ready Skin

1 – Exfoliate

Pull out your favorite exfoliator and start scrubbing away all the dead skin -- it's time to get ready for summer beaches! As I said already mentioned, I wasn’t the kindest to my skin this winter. Half of it I was pregnant and feeling as big as a whale, and the other half I was caring for my newborn. So the first step into prepping my feet to start wearing sandals again was to give them a good scrub, especially the heels. I didn’t exfoliate or moisturize them like I should’ve, so it took a few scrubs to scrub away the dry skin and reveal soft heels again. I’ve been using a coffee sugar scrub that smells like chocolate, so it’s divine to use while in the shower!

2 – Shave or Wax

I prefer to wax to reveal smooth skin for the summer!I’m always lazier about keeping up with this in the winter, because I’m mostly in long sleeves and pants anyways, but with the warm weather I want to have that soft, hairless skin again! Whichever you prefer — shaving or waxing — start doing it again as the weather warms up. It’s amazing how soft just removing excess hair can make your skin feel! I waxed my arm hair last weekend (a ‘How To’ post coming soon!) and can’t get over the feel. Love it!

3 – Switch Out Skincare/Bodycare

Refresh your skincare and bodycare routine by getting new products that'll keep your skin balanced through the summer heat!I showed you yesterday the new skincare routine that I’ll be using this summer, but I also like to change out my body products, too. Your skin has different needs in the summer than it did in the winter, so keeping up with this will help your skin stay balanced and beautiful in the areas that need it. I’m going to be using Dove’s new Dry Oil Moisture Body Wash this year as it’ll help maintain and nourish the skin’s protective layer during cleansing and replenishes 12x more skin natural nutrients than competitors.

The Dove Dry Oil Moisture Body Wash has chunks of argan oil that help to replenish the skin while cleansing! As you can see, there are actual chunks of Moroccan argan oil in the body wash, which is so neat. And it smells heavenly! Very strongly fragranced, but a lovely, almost tropical fragrance that I enjoy smelling. If you’re not a body wash kind of gal like I am, they also sell it in the sold form cleanser with their Dry Oil Beauty Bar which contains ¼ moisturizing cream and Moroccan Argan Oil to gently cleanse and care for your skin, leaving it soft and smooth. So either way, Dove has you covered!

4 – Drink Water

Bump up your water intake to not only stay hydrated this summer, but to also reveal brighter, firmer skin! This step is so important, yet the one that gets overlooked the most. With the hot weather our body requires more H2O to keep you going and when you don’t amp up your water intake, it starts to get depleted and the first resource it’ll take from is the benefits of water to your skin. If you are unhappy with your dull, lifeless skin, think about how much water you’re intaking and consider ramping it up considerably. You’ll be surprised what a difference this small adjustment will make in your skin!

5 – SPF

Make sure your sun glasses protect against UVB rays this summer!Always, always, always protect your skin from the damaging rays of the sun. That’s the biggest cause of wrinkles and age spots! Make sure your SPF in your facial moisturizer is high, but don’t forget the other exposed parts of your body, especially when going to the beach. And one of the most neglected area for UVB ray damage is your eyes. We often don’t think about it, but they can really damage are delicate eyelids and eyeballs, so make sure you double check that your glasses offer UVB ray protection!

Softer, smoother skin is something every woman desire, however 1 in 3 women suffer from dry skin and 98% of women feel more confident when their skin is moisturized vs. dry. There you have it, 5 ways to get your skin summer ready! And they’re all very easy, basic steps, but if you do them all you’ll see a huge difference in the feel of your skin! I’ve certainly noticed it, especially as I’ve incorporated the New Dove Dry Oil Collection My skin felt so amazingly smooth after I showered because the Dry Oil Moisture Body Wash features a nourishing formula infused with Moroccan Argan oil beads to gently cleanse while helping to replenish nutrients to the skin. I have a feeling I’ll be going through this bottle very quickly. 😉

What ways are you getting summer ready skin this year? What do you think about the New Dove Dry Oil Collection? If you plan to pick a bottle up, or you’ve already been using it, let me know below! I’d love to hear what wonderful things it’s doing for your skin!

These 5 tips to help get summer ready skin were so helpful! Definitely need to start incorporating these steps into my daily routine!

Great advice! For me – summer ready skin has to happen all year round. Arizona desert – sunny almost every day of the year. SPF is my best friend.

The scrub is a favorite of mine — it’s from the Tree Hut line that’s Brazilian Nut. It smells like coffee, and chocolate, and deliciousness!

You had me at dry oil moisture. I’ve been lax about all-over moisturising for a few weeks now and have reptilian legs.

I am horrible at remembering to apply SPF, too! Until I got a day-time moisturizer that has 50 SPF already in it — from Paula’s Choice. Now I wear it daily, and it doesn’t give me the flashback or greasy feel!

Great tips! Is your coffee scrub homemade? If so, what’s your recipe?

Thank you! Actually, it’s not, it’s a sugar scrub from the Tree Hut line. I love it — it doesn’t seem too hard to duplicate, though, I really should try to DIY it!
