BoxyCharm has to be my favorite subscription box out there. While it’s a bit more money than the popular Birchbox or Ipsy, I love the fact that you get all full-size products in each box. And even if the product I received isn’t something I would use, because they’re full size products, they make great gifts!
This month was a really, really great month for me! Ready to see all the products I received in my August unboxing?? Just keep reading…
More About BoxyCharm
Just in case you’ve never heard of BoxyCharm before, let me give you a quick rundown of how it works! For only $21 a month, BoxyCharm ships out a box filled with 4-5 full size products. The value of each box is typically around or well over $100 each month. And shipping is free! So it’s like an Ispy, but 10 times better! I’ve received products from new-to-me brands as well as popular, high end brands, too! It’s a great way to discover new products at an affordable price!
What’s In My August BoxyCharm Box
Okay, let’s dive right in to this August unboxing!
Let me first just say, I am loving the new design of BoxyCharm! (See old design here) I kinda miss the pink, but I love the black and white, too!
This month was all about the travel. I just love the ‘post card’ that gives you all the information on the product. 🙂 Now let’s just grab for the biggest and most exciting item in this box!
It’s an eyeshadow palette! If you didn’t know, I’m a total eyeshadow palette junkie — if I could only own one category of makeup, it would totally be eyeshadow palettes! If you’ve been keeping up with my unboxings, than you know BoxyCharm gave the Coastal Scents Revealed palette in the December box and the CS Revealed 2 in the April box….and now they’ve given us the Coastal Scents Revealed 3 palette! You have no idea how excited I am to own the whole collection!!!! (haha, I sound like a total weirdo, I know… 😀
I have to say that, out of all the Coastal Scents Revealed palettes, this has to be my least favorite. Not on account of the quality — the majority of the shadows are really soft and pigmented (one or two sparkly duds, in my opinion) — but moreso because of the color selection. They’re just not really colors that I tend to wear. I do like the gold shadow in this palette, and plan to use it this holiday seasons. 🙂
Next up is this leave-in conditioner from Nios Shield. I am always looking for something to condition and help my frizzy hair, so I was thrilled to get this. And it smells really good when you apply! I’ve already tried this out on my freshly-washed hair and am liking the results. And it has SPF for my hair — yay!
With all the buzz about highlighting and strobing recently, I wasn’t too surprised to see a highlighter in this month’s box. I don’t own many highlighters — just two, really — so I am totally into expanding my collection and was happy to get this crayon. 🙂
As you can see, the shimmer in this product is amazing! I didn’t really want to apply it straight to my cheeks (I was kind of afraid it would mess up my foundation underneath) so what I did was apply a lot to the back of my hand and then use an e.l.f. Studio Small Stipple Brush to apply it to my cheeks. I wish I could’ve gotten a good picture of it (it just didn’t show up well) but it was beautiful! Really like the results I got from this product!
Next up was an eyeliner brush from Seta. Since I am a crazy winged-liner girl, I was thrilled to get this. It wasn’t as finely-pointed as I typically like (it reminded me of the Real Techniques Fine Liner Brush), but it definitely gets the job done well. And since my Real Techniques brush just recently died, this is perfect timing!
And, last up, we have a gel eyeliner pot from MicaBeauty! Which goes perfectly well with the brush they included in the box. As I’ve already said, I’m a winged liner fanatic (can’t do my eyes without winging it out!) and I prefer gel pots over eyeliner pens, so of course I am happy to have another pot to add to my collection.
The color is very, very black and dries to a matte finish (which is my preference). It’s super creamy (Reminds me of the consistency of the Rimmel Gel Liner), so takes several minutes to fully set, which was kind of an issue when it was on my hand (kept bumping into it and making a mess) but when I applied it to my eyes I had no issues with it. It didn’t transfer or anything, but then again I don’t have really hooded eyes or anything, so keep that in mind.
The Value of My August Box
Now for the fun part! Let’s do some math to see how much this August unboxing was worth!
- Coastal Scents Revealed 3 Palette – $39.95 (on sale for $19.95)
- MicaBeauty Gel Eyeliner – $35
- Nios Shield Leave-In Conditioner – $26
- So Susan Statement Skin Highlighter – $20
- Seta Eyeliner Brush – $16
TOTAL = $116.95
Just so you know, I didn’t count the full-price for the Coastal Scents palette, I used the sale price to add up the total. They’re always on sale and you never pay full price anyways (By the way, you can get it on Amazon for just $16 right now. And you get free shipping if your on Prime.) Hope that was okay.
But even using the sale price for the palette, the value of this box was still well over $100! Isn’t that awesome? And you’re getting products that you probably would’ve never heard/bought of before.

If I had to pick a favorite from this months box….I think I would say the gel eyeliner pot. (Yes, I love my wings! 🙂 ) What was your favorite? Share with me in the comments below!
I received the products mentioned above from BoxyCharm in the hopes that I would mention them on my blog. Regardless, this does not guarantee a review or feature on my blog. I only share information that I think will be useful for my readers and I only recommend products I have personally used.

Thanks for the tip about the box being on Amazon! I’m going to look for it right now. I have been so impressed with every Boxycharm review I’ve seen all year!
Katie Garvin says
Allison, yeah, no problem! I like to link the products, if I can, in my post so it’s easier for my readers. And when I saw that the CS palette was cheaper on Amazon, I had to share. 🙂 The other palettes are on their, too, and I think around the same price.

Let me start by saying, I love your signature. Very creative and super cute! I’ve never heard of So Susan. I love the highlighter though – -when I use them. Like you, I don’t really use them. I think I only have one and not sure where it is. lol
Katie Garvin says
Aww, thank you Cheryl! It was a lot of fun to make. 🙂
Yeah, I’ve just begun to stick my toes into the waters of highlighting. Most days I forget, but I enjoy putting a bit on my cheeks when I remember. Not sure if I’m all about the newest craze, “strobing”, but a little glow on the top of my cheekbones is pretty. 🙂

I’ve been debating more and more about getting this sub service. I cancelled my ipsy recently and my other more expensive one awhile back, but this one just seems to be the best bang for your buck out there!
Katie Garvin says
I really feel like this is the way to go. You get so many full size products in every box! I’ve never been much of a samples gal, but new products? Sign me up 🙂 And, as I say often, even if the product isn’t something you’d use (like I don’t use brow products or false lashes), they make great gifts, because they’re full size. 🙂 You should totally try a month or two. 🙂
Sammi the Beauty Buff says
Oh, I remember getting that Mica Beauty eyeliner in an Ipsy bag awhile back! It dried out on me after awhile. I miss it! This looks like a great box. I’ve never tried Boxycharm!
Katie Garvin says
Sammi, thanks for the heads up about the liner — I’ll take extra care to shut it tightly. Hopefully it won’t dry out too fast! You really should try BoxyCharm!
Ally says
That leave in conditioner looks great! And that pallet looks like it could definitely come in handy!
Katie Garvin says
Ally, it’s been awesome so far! I’ve used it about 3 times so far. It smells great and I like the feel of my hair afterwards.
Kristina says
I agree, Boxycharm is one of the best makeup subs out there right now! I love the looks of that So Susan highlighter.
Katie Garvin says
Kristina – it totally is! I love getting new, full size products every month. It’s like my birthday all the time!
