Butter London Glazen Eye Gloss | Review, Swatches, & Demo

April 12, 2017 Katie Marie 12 Comments

Butter London Glazen Eye Gloss | Review, Swatches, & DemoI don’t know about you, but every time I saw these products while browsing Butter London products, I was intrigued. Glazen Eye Gloss? …like, a lipgloss, but for your eyes? That just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen — especially for a gal with very oily-prone eyelids. During the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale these beauties were half off, so I figured now was the time to see what these products were all about. Because you have to admit, they sound very unique and unlike anything else on the market!

Butter London Glazen Eye Gloss | Review, Swatches, & Demo | OpenedButter London describes these glosses as being able to give your eyes a wet look without really being wet. *insert skeptical face* Going into the testing faze of this product I am, of course, envisioning wet-looking creases on my eyes that fades and smears away. Not a cute look!

Butter London Glazen Eye Gloss | They have such a UNIQUE consistency! The consistency of the Glazen Eye Gloss is, hands down, unlike any other eye product I’ve tried. I thought it might be like Colorpop’s original formula — that wet/spongy feel — but it’s not. It looks and feels a lot like jello, but softer.

Butter London Glazen Eye Gloss | FrostedThe Shades I Bought

Let’s run through the three shades that I own. This first shade above is called Frosted and is a warm rose-gold packed with tons of sparkle. If you like your eyes to dazzle and shine — this is the color for you!

Butter London Glazen Eye Gloss | SparkThe next shade is called Spark and is a sparkling bronzed/champagne. Also extremely pretty, especially if you like your neutral colors but like some sparkle.

Butter London Glazen Eye Gloss | Oil SlickAnd last, but certainly not least, is Oil Slick. This shade was a no-brainer for me to get — it’s so beautiful and interesting! It reminds me of that duo-chrome shade in the Wet n Wild Comfort Zone palette. Don’t you think so?! This shade is simply described as a “chameleon”. Which I thought was very vague, but I do think it describes this shade. It is very duo-chrome, as I suspected — shifting from turquoise, to green, to red/brown. Just like an oil slick! And it’s packed with lots of sparkle…in a word, it’s stunning!

Butter London Glazen Eye Gloss | Review, Swatches, & Demo | Finger SwatchesThe Swatches

These finger swatches I only dipped into the pot once — a lot of product comes off and they are super pigmented! The amount on each finger is enough for at least 2 or 3 eye looks. The first couple times that I used these, I actually only had to take a dot off of the protective cover in order to cover my eyes. One Glazen Eye Gloss will last you a lifetime!

Butter London Glazen Eye Gloss | Review, Swatches, & Demo | Arm SwatchesFor these arm swatches I only swiped it across my arm ONCE! I tried my best to get a picture that shows the swatches in sunlight and a little shade, so you can see the shifting color in Oil Slick. Tell me these don’t get you excited!

Butter London Glazen Eye Gloss | Review, Swatches, & Demo | Available at UltaApplication & Performance

I used both my fingers and an eyeshadow brush to apply these to my lids and both ways work fine. The finger can be a bit “messy” in application, so if you want a clean look on the eyes I would opt for a brush. They are also packed with glitter and sparkle, which will linger on your fingers if you don’t use a makeup wipe to remove it.

Butter London Glazen Eye Gloss | Review, Swatches, & Demo | Eye LookThis look I created just using the shade Frosted on the center of my eyelid. I found that the Glazen Eye Gloss is best used as the last step in your eye look. If you apply it, then try to blend around the edges, I noticed that the glitter would start to fall out and get everywhere. Not super bad, but noticeable to me.

Butter London Glazen Eye Gloss | The formula is like Jello! This also isn’t an eyeshadow ‘base’, like the Maybelline Color Tattoos. Once applied they set really fast. They don’t have any sort of “stick” to them to layer anything on top — they are completely dry. In fact, they remind me a lot like the Jesse’s Girl Fluid Shadow that I reviewed a few weeks ago — except a good formula! If you didn’t see that post, I was pretty hard on how much I hated the fluid shadows. But this…it’s so good!

Butter London Glazen Eye Gloss | Review and Swatches

My overall Thoughts

To sum it up, I really, really love these glosses. They are so unique and fun — definitely a great product to have in your makeup collection. And if you are a lover of all things shiny and glittery…well, what are you waiting for? You NEED these! I know they are a bit expensive and I wouldn’t say you need all the shades — but I do think one needs to be added to your collection. If you like the beauty of the L’Oreal Infallible shadows…well, the Glazen Eye Gloss will blow your mind with their pigmentation and sparkle!

What do YOU think about these Glazen Eye Glosses? Do you own any? Will you be adding any to your collection after reading my review?? You guys know I LOVE to hear from you! <3

Wish I had seen these during Ulta’s 21 Days coz I like creamy shadows. They remind me a lot of shadows that I bought from Fiona Stiles at Ulta but I never seem to use. I’ll check them out
