Wet n Wild Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipsticks – Swatches & Review

January 31, 2017 Katie Marie 5 Comments

Wet n Wild Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipsticks - Swatches & ReviewWet n Wild has released a new line of liquid lipsticks called their Liquid Catsuit Matte lipsticks…and you know I had to try them! I am pretty sure the majority of my lipstick collection are matte, but that doesn’t ever stop me from trying new ones. ๐Ÿ™‚ So how did they do? Are these better than their spring releases??

Wet n Wild Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipsticks - FlatlayWet n Wild released a bunch of shades in their MegaLast Liquid Catsuit matte lipstick — 13 to be exact — but I just have 5 of their shades to share with you today. I’ve seen these lipsticks at Walgreens, Rite Aid, and CVS. I’m not sure if these are limited edition or not, though… :-/

Arm swatches of the Wet n Wild Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipsticks This line of lipsticks appear to have inconsistencies. Rebel Rose swatched beautifully — very nice formula, mousey texture, and very opaque. The other shades varied in pigmentation. Give Me Mocha looks the worst, but it actually wasn’t that streaky on the lips. So let’s just dive right into each lipstick!

As already mentioned, this is my favorite from all the ones I have, both because how it swatches on the lips and how it wears throughout the day. It definitely out performed the rest of them by far. I would say I got a solid 4 hours of perfect wear with this one before it started feeling uncomfortably drying and start to show that inner rim around the inside of my lips. Eating isn’t too bad — if I’m careful it holds up well. It does layer, but it can feel a bit thick afterwards.

This shade will be so pretty to wear this spring. It’s my kind of coral — not too bright to feel out of my comfort zone, but still a fun coral. ๐Ÿ™‚ This one feels like a different formula than Rebel Rose. It’s not as moussy and can be streaky. I wore it with a lip liner underneath one day and while it felt a lot drier and thicker on the lips, the wear time still held up to about 3-4 hours of great wear. I did experience it layering well, though, when I went to touch it up.

Another favorite of mine, and mostly because of the color. I love these mauve-browns! It doesn’t swatch the best, but I found that it applied just fine to the lips. Didn’t have any issues with trying to smooth out streaks, so that was great. It felt more noticeable on the lips than the previous two, but held up just as fine. Once again about 4 hours of decent wear (without eating) before it started “to turn”. ๐Ÿ˜› It didn’t go downhill quickly, which is nice, and with all of these liquid lipsticks they’re pretty easy to wipe off and reapply fresh again. I prefer this method when I had to touch up.

Talk about a neon red! At least, this shows up neon red on mine! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ This isn’t my shade of red, but if you like a really bright red than this is for you. It was similar in consistency to Rebel Rose, which I liked, and it wore just as well. It performs as well as that one, too, which is great. Still feels drying on the lips, but dries down really nice and doesn’t transfer easily — which is important with this bright of a shade!

The biggest disappointment of all — this baby was STREAK CITY! You can see exactly what I mean in this swatch video (at bottom of post) I shared on my Instagram last night. I tried wearing this with a lip liner underneath….and these are the results I got.

Wet n Wild Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipsticks | Video Vixen | Lip Swatch with LinerI used a berry lip liner, just a random one I had in my collection, so maybe it wasn’t the best choice to grab for. But I didn’t notice it helping with the streaks or wear time at all. But even if the wear time was better than all the rest (which isn’t, I think it might be slightly worse), I just don’t find this wearable because no matter if I use lip liner or not, I can’t get the streaks out enough to wear it out. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Sorry to be so negative about this one…but it was horrible compared to the rest.

Wet n Wild Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipsticks CollectionDo I recommend the Liquid Catsuit Matte lipsticks?

Yes and no. Not going to lie, I was pretty miffed to see that they raised the price by $2 from the liquid lipsticks they released in the fall — and the formula on the best lipsticks in these Liquid Catsuit ones honestly doesn’t seem any better than the best ones from the fall collection. :-/ I see you, Wet n Wild…

If you want an affordable lipstick and like the shade Rebel Rose or Flame of the Game, I can definitely vouch that that one is easy to apply and will wear nicely for 4-6 hours — though keep in mind that these are all very drying on the lips the whole time you have them on. Coral Corruption and Give Me Mocha are nice colors, though can be a bit patchy when first applying it. With a bit of work they both look nice, though.

So, in conclusion, if you don’t mind drying lipsticks and only care that it looks it’s best for a few hours, these are definitely worth the purchase! And I am sure wear time will vary from person to person — I saw Tati do a video and rave about the fact that they stayed absolutely perfect from morning to night. That wasn’t the case for me, but who knows, it might be for you.

Did you pick up any of the Liquid Catsuit matte lipsticks? Let me know what shades you got and how you like them! <3
