Wet n Wild Fall Collection – Review & Swatches

October 13, 2016 Katie Marie 27 Comments

A peak at the Wet n Wild Fall collection for 2016!The Wet n Wild fall collection has made a splash in the beauty community (as every collection release from them does) because they’ve finally joined the matte liquid lipstick trend! You know I was excited about that, so of course I had to see if affordable and a good matte liquid lipsticks could come together here. Plus I have a few other products from their line. Let’s take a look!

I typically only share one ‘review’ post a week, but with my vacation in August and then my health issues in September, I’ve fallen behind on reviewing products. So if I am able, I’ll be sharing a ‘bonus’ review on the weekends. I just wanted to let you all know and I hope you don’t mind the extra post/review! ๐Ÿ™‚

Wet n Wild Fall Collection

I know I am late to the party with this one, but I still saw it at my local RiteAid so I hope you still find this helpful. Let’s dive right in. We’re breaking it down into three categories: eyes, lashes, and lips!

ColorIcon Eyeshadow Trio

Retail: $2.99 | See In Store for Ingredient List & More Info

Wet n Wild Eyeshadow Trio in Plaid to the Bone - Limited Editon!Wet n Wild released two limited edition trios, but I just have this one in Plaid to the Bone. Love the name, by the way. The Wet n Wild fall collection gets a pat on the back for cute and unique names!

Swatches from the Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio in Plaid to the Bone from the fal 2016 collectionThe two shimmers swatched beautifully but that matte was pretty sad. I only rubbed once in the pan but I had to swipe it three times across my arm to get the pigmentation you see. A follower of mine on Instagram, Katie, said that she had to scrap the top layer off and then it was better. I tried this, and it definitely makes it usable. It goes on a lot easier and not as patchy.

Curiosity got the better of me! Pictured above is a comparison of that Eyelid shade to see if it was a dupe for the Definer shade in the oh-so-popular Comfort Zone palette.

ColorIcon Color Mascara

Retail: $2.99 | See In Store for Ingredient List & More Info

Colored masaras are a big trend in the beauty world right now!I haven’t really tried the colored mascara trend, but was intrigued by these. Especially since they’re only $3 so even if you don’t use it often, they’re not going to break the bank.

A traditional mascara wand on these Wet n Wild Fall collection onesThe wand isn’t my favorite type, but it gets the job done. If I’m not careful it will try to clump my lashes together. The color is pretty bright, which I was happy with. No point in putting on a colored mascara if it looks black or like you have nothing on, am I right? It’s not like — bam! — blue eyelashes. But it is a subtle distinction that you can see up close. I found them fun and I enjoyed using them, especially on the lower lashes.

Swatches of the Wet n Wild Fall collection Color Icon colored mascarasOkay, I have to explain sad little Unbreakable Bronze! I took the first picture, with them all open, no problem. Closed them to take some more shots, then thought it would be fun to show you the color on a white piece of paper. So I opened them all. I didn’t do anything different when I pulled out the wand…but it just broke off inside the tube! I was sad, but honestly if I had purchased these I wouldn’t have been too upset — I would’ve just taken it back to get it exchanged for a new one. None of the others have broken off and I’ve used them all several times, so I’m pretty sure Unbreakable Bronze was just a fluke.

ColorIcon Matte Liquid Lipsticks

Retail: $2.99 | See In Store for Ingredient List & More Info

Wet n Wild has liquid lipsticks now!I was sent 4 shades (noted below) from the Wet n Wild Fall collection. I wouldn’t say this is a consistent line since I feel like two performed very nicely, and the other two…eh, not so much. How Fleek is Your Love and Too Tulip to Quit were the two I thought were great. They weren’t streaky and felt very comfortable on. They aren’t an all-day liquid lipstick, but will get you 2-4 hours of wear, with no eating, just fine.

Wet n Wild WINS it with their shade names!Take It Like a Vamp and Don’t Be a Plum-Plum both disappointed me…and Vamp more than Plum. I think you can tell from the swatches but they were just a bit more streaky and thick, to me. Once set they either had a patchy look to them or they started cracking up in less than an hour. They would look better with a lip liner underneath, but I am lazy and don’t use liners much, haha.

Swatches of the ColorIcon matte liquid lipsticks from the Wet n Wild Fall collectionAlso, I don’t like the applicator. The scoop in it is fine, but it’s too ‘fuzzy’. Especially those darker shades — the lines just aren’t crisp. I had planned to post a lip swatch video today, but somehow I deleted one of the clips, so I have to refilm. Once I do (keep an eye on my Instagram) you’ll be able to see what I mean about the applicators not being the best for this type of lipstick.

The applicators on these Wet n Wild matte liquid lipsticks are different!I almost forgot, these are only about 75% transfer proof. ๐Ÿ˜‰ So, all that to say…I really like Too Tulip to Quit and How Fleek is Your Love, but won’t be keeping Take It Like a Vamp or Don’t Be a Plum-Plum in my collection for long. And while these don’t last all day, for $3 they’re nice to have for a quick outing or photo session. I can’t wait to rock Too Tulip to Quit in a look soon! <3

So What’s Worth Picking Up?

Plaid to the Bone is nice, but I would say only get it if you don’t own the Comfort Zone palette. That matte isn’t the greatest and the two shimmers are similar to ones already in the Comfort Zone palette — and that one isn’t limited edition.

ColorIcon mascaras are fun. Depending on your eye color, you could get the color that compliments them the most and at least use it on your lower lash line. It would make your eyes pop a bit more!

Too Tulip to Quit and How Fleek is Your Love are definitely worth getting if you are drawn to those types of shades. For $3, I think they’re worth it. Just don’t expect it to perform like a $25 matte liquid lipstick. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Have you gotten anything from the Wet n Wild Fall Collection? Let me know what you got and how you liked them! <3

The Wet n Wild Fall Collection is so stunning - and they have matte liquid lipsticks now!

I’m loving the mascaras – I am known to sport purple mascara every so often. ๐Ÿ™‚ I must say I also LOL’d when I saw that it was Unbreakable Brozne that broke…so ironic!

I’m so glad you included that comparison to the Comfort Zone palette shade. Because that was my first thought as soon as I saw that duochrome shade.

Yes girl, I got you! ๐Ÿ˜‰ And of course WnW wouldn’t give us the same shade…just similar. Which totally means we need both, right? ๐Ÿ˜›

Wow! I love the eye trios! I honestly haven’t picked up anything from Wet n Wild in a long time, but I love these colors! I’m really curious about the liquid lips!!! Even if it remotely works for a couple of hours, I’d be impressed at that price point!

I love having a few of these trios specifically for the shimmer shades. They are stunning on the lids ๐Ÿ™‚

I like colored mascara but so many of them disappoint. Glad to hear that these from WnW really work! I’m going to pick up at least one. Now which color to go with?? On a different topic, I’m amazed that you can do only one review a week. I am so backed up with stuff to review, I need to do at least 4! I guess I’m taking on too many.

Girl, I hear you! I got so backed up with a trip at the end of August, so I’ve started sharing a review on the weekend, if I can. Put some weeks my personal life is just too busy to give me the time. I do what I can, though! ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank goodness I am a night owl, lol

I can’t help but laugh at “Unbreakable Bronze” being the one that broke! Never tried colored mascara, not sure it’s for me, but I’d be more tempted to try it with something cheap like this since it’s not too much of an investment

Yes, same here — I am not big on colored mascara but it IS fun to play with. Especially on my lower lashes. And for a couple bucks…why not?! ๐Ÿ™‚

The shade Too Tulip to Quit is just beautiful. How drying are they…? I recently got a megalast lipstick and I’m completely in love, I think I’ll give them a try if they make it to Spain. For 3-4โ‚ฌ they’re worth it.

For the price, they are definitely worth picking one up if a shade is calling you. They are…not the most drying I have ever tried, but I can tell I am wearing them. Honestly, at the end of a full day any liquid lipstick will dry out my lips to some degree. But these weren’t that bad at all. Nothing a little TLC and thick lip balm couldn’t fix overnight, lol
