6 Tips to Save Money with Mr. Rebates

How Mr. Rebates Works

Before we get into the tips, let’s talk about how Mr. Rebates work! All you have to do is sign up and make an account and then the next time you’re shopping online and about to check out…look up the merchant on Mr. Rebates and if they offer cashback with them, click the yellow “shop now” button and check out. That’s it! In a few days you’ll see the cashback amount pop up in your account as pending and after a few weeks it’ll be added to your account balance.

But how? Well when you click on the yellow button it activates a unique code in the store’s shopping cart that will ensure you get credited with the rebate.

You Get a $5 Welcome Bonus If you use my link!

Okay, last point before we get into the tips! This one I didn’t want to include as a tip…because you literally get it just for creating an account. So after you sign up you’ll see $5 in your account balance under “pending” and as soon as you use Mr. Rebates for the first time to place an order, it’ll be moved from “pending” to “available” cash back. As soon as you have at least $10 in your available cash back balance you can request either a check, gift card, or that the money be deposited into your paypal account.

Tips to Save Money with Mr. Rebates | Mr. Rebates Quick Cash ButtonTip 1: Install the Mr. Rebates Quick Cash Button

This is a tip to ensure you never accidentally miss a chance at getting cash back. When you download and install the Mr. Rebates Quick Cash button into your web browser, you never have to leave the website you’re shopping at in order to ensure you get cash back. You can simple activate the cash back instantly with the button that’ll be located at the top right of your browser. The Mr. Rebates Quick Cash button will also automatically remind you to activate cash back at any store you’re shopping at that qualifies for cash back. So no need to go searching on Mr. Rebates website to see if that website is listed as having cash back — the button will do the work for you!

Tip 2: Refer Your Friends

Mr. Rebates has a referral program that makes it very easy and effortless to share your link with your family and friends and on your social media channels. If they sign up using your link (or use your email address as their direct referrer), they’ll get the $5 added to their account (like I mentioned above). What do you get? There is no one-time cash reward for referring someone, instead you get a bonus every time they use Mr. Rebates — 20% of their original rebate will automatically be added to your account every time they shop through Mr. Rebates! How long does this go on for? Forever, basically — you can earn and earn and earn! So remember that Aunt, Grandfather, or best friend who loves to shop online? Have them sign up through your link and you will wrack up the dollars…by doing absolutely nothing!

Tips to Save Money with Mr. Rebates | Mr. Rebates AppTip 3: Download the Mr. Rebates app

Do you like shopping online via your iPhone or android? You can still get cash back for your online purchases by downloading the Mr. Rebates Mobile App. You get access to everything you normally get on the Mr. Rebates website, so no fear of missing out on anything! If you tend to place orders from your phone, you’re seriously missing out if you don’t get the app!

Tips to Save Money with Mr. Rebates | Favorites ListTip 4: Create favorites lists

As you are exploring the Mr. Rebates website, make sure you’re clicking the star next to your favorite merchants — this puts that store into your favorites list. Now you’re able to keep an eye on all the stores you shop at the most in one place and can easily see if there are any special promos going on. It’s a really great tool that simplifies things so that if you’re wanting to see if there’s any specials going on at your favorite store…you just need to check one place to find all the answers. And just as an example, the week I took my screenshot above, Etsy was having a boost with their cash back rewards and that’s symbolized by the green bill to the left of their name.

Tips to Save Money with Mr. Rebates | Store of the Weektip 5: Store of the week

Each week Mr. Rebates highlights a “store of the week” where they have a significantly higher cashback than they typical do. For example, this week Lenovo is 12% cash back (when it’s usually 4%). That’s such a huge increase in cash back and you can still use the other typical coupons at checkout to save even more (if that retailer is offering any coupons). I typically check in to the Mr. Rebates website once a week to see what store is the “store of the week” because if I can save even more money on clothes, shoes, makeup, household stuff…why not, right?!

Tip 6: Take advantage of coupons they provide

If you’re like me than you probably hate to check out unless you have a coupon for your order. It always feels so wrong to hit “order” if that little “discount/promo code” area isn’t filled, am I right? Well Mr. Rebates makes it really easy to see all the active coupons that are out there and available for the specific retailer you’re shopping at. Whether you have the quick cash button installed in your browser or not, you’re able to see a bunch of active coupons and apply applicable ones to your order. Makes my life so much easier — no more googling for active coupon codes!

Tips to Save Money with Mr. Rebates | Over 3000 Stores!Tip 7: Become familiar with the websites Mr. Rebates offers cash back on

This is something that you won’t have to worry about if you install the button (see Tip 2 above), but if you don’t, make sure you are aware of the type of websites that Mr. Rebates offers cash back for. Do you shop a lot at Groupon to save money? Well, you could be saving EVEN MORE money by clicking through Mr. Rebates before you buy on Groupon because they offer a standard 6%. Do you travel a lot? They have 3% cash back for Expedia and 2% for Travelocity. Need to book a hotel room? Mr. Rebates offers cash back on tons of hotels. And best of all, if you’re into beauty and need to make a purchase from Ulta, Mr. Rebates has a standard 5% cash back on your order. That makes this makeup addict’s heart happy!

Now Have fun Shopping and saving!

Have you heard of Mr. Rebates before? If you have, let me know your favorite retailer you utilize Mr. Rebates with! And if you don’t have an account…let me know that and then Mr. Rebates and start saving!

I use ebates whenever I can. Some sites are getting around it by insisting you click through the email to activate their special but I always check ebates first.
