Back to College with Burt’s Bees
It’s been several years since I was in college, but I can still remember my routine. On early mornings, I cut it down to the things that I valued the most when doing my makeup — foundation, some color on my cheeks, eyeshadow, a bit of liner, mascara, and a moisturizing lipstick. If I was able to do all this, I felt put together and in charge of my day — no matter what test I had to tackle that day. So let’s get into the tutorial!
Quick & Easy Back to School Tutorial
I always preferred to do my eyes first — it makes cleanup so easy! So after priming my eyes I used the Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Eyeshadow Palette with 3 Shades in Dusky Woods and took that first shade from the top to highlight my brow bone. And I haphazardly blended it down into my crease to help with the blending I was about to do next.
After that I took the bottom matte shadow and blended it into my outer corner with a big fluffy brush and blended it up into my crease just a little bit. It doesn’t have to be super smokey and intense, just a bit of color to give you definition.
Using the last shade in the palette I applied that onto my eyelid, blending it gently into the matte brown with the same brush. And there you have it — your eye look is complete and took you less than 2 minutes!
I am someone who loves to wing my eyeshadow out with a liquid liner, but especially during college…I just didn’t have the time! However, I still liked to have some sort of definition to my last line. So I would take a soft gel liner like the Burt’s Bees Nourishing Eyeliner in Soft Black and used it to line my lash line and give it a little flick. I also lined my waterline with this eyeliner, too.
I took a bit of the matte brown from the palette earlier and blended it out on my lower lash line and then it was mascara time. I used the Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Nourishing Mascara to coat both my top and bottom lashes.
Now it’s time for the face! I used the Burt’s Bees Goodness Glows Liquid Foundation and quickly blended it all over my face. It gives you a light-to-medium coverage and I found it very quick and effortless to buff into the skin.
If you have dry skin you are all set to go! But, if you have oily skin, I would recommend setting it with a light powder before moving on. Then I took the Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Blush with Vitamin E in the shade Bare Peach and swept that onto my cheeks to give my face a little color and dimension.
Lastly, I just applied a nice lipstick that will give my lips a glossy and moisturized look — like the Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Moisturizing Lipstick in Blush Basin. I owned one of these right after it launched and loved it! It was my go-to lipstick I kept in my purse for months…until I left my purse in the car on a hot summer day and it melted. 🙁 Learn from me and don’t leave these gems in your car! 😉
And there you have it, the look is complete! I feel put together and ready to start my day — and it took me less than 10 minutes to achieve it!
While I don’t go to college anymore, this is still the routine I use when I am in a hurry and need to get out the door early. I always feel totally done up even though I am not doing half the steps that I would do if I had an hour to do my makeup. 🙂
The best part about using Burt’s Bees makeup is that they use simple, clean ingredients like almonds, acai, honey, mango, and more! It’s easy to see what’s in these products and know if they’ll work with your skin or not.

Your makeup is so lovely. I’ve been wanting to try some of Burt Bee’s makeup. I knew they had some great blushes, but I didn’t know about the foundation. I’ll check it out next time I’m at the store!

Such a pretty look Katie. I love your tutorial and the colors you used. The blush and lipstick are especially pretty. One of the CVS stores near me carries the full line so I need to go look it over.

My day-to-day makeup look has to be achieved quickly. With an early starting time at work plus having to get two kids ready and out the door, I like my sleep more than complex looks!

Such a pretty and nice neutral look! Ha, I make my own schedule and its all behind a computer so I get to skip on makeup and do it when I am done with school work for the day so I can play and do it more targeted towards what I am doing the rest of the day which I love!
