It can be overwhelming to figure out what baby must-haves you should include on your baby registry — the number of baby gadgets and supplies seem endless! There were more than a few products I included on my baby registry that, turns out, I really didn’t need…and even more products that I didn’t know I needed until after my first child — Olivia — arrived. So today I’m sharing with you 3 baby must haves that I’ve discovered over the years that I wish I would’ve known about sooner!

3 Things You NEED On Your Baby Registry
1. Baby Sleepbag
When I was being discharged from the hospital after my second child was born, the nurse mentioned to me that I should look into a sleep sack — as having a blanket in the bed is not safe for an infant. I had never heard of such a thing before! It really is a genius invention — it’s kinda like a sleeper…except it closes at the bottom with room to wiggle, and it zips and unzips easily. Both my children were born in December, so I never felt full at ease to just place them in the bed without any other additional layers for warmth — and this completely solved that issue!
2. The Ideal Baby Monitor
I know a baby monitor is probably on most people’s baby registry, but to tell you the truth…it wasn’t on mine. We lived in a small house, had no pets, and I just didn’t see the logic of having a baby monitor — I could hear easily into the baby’s room at night, and during the day I figured I would always be within earshot. Well, let me tell you — you NEED a baby monitor! It’s not just for knowing when your baby is awake, but it also lets you SEE into your child’s crib without entering the room. Because if there is one thing that will wake a baby EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. … it’s when you try to sneak into their room to check on them.
So yeah, baby monitor was one of the things I thought I didn’t need…until after my little one arrived. But which one should you get? Well, today I’m sharing with you about my experience with the VTech VM4261 4.3โ Digital Video Baby Monitor with Pan & Tilt Camera, Wide-Angle Lens and Standard Lens. Which I am now going to refer to as VM4261 for simplicity sake, haha. It wasn’t my first baby monitor…but it has quickly replaced my old baby monitor as superior all the way around!
I know this has little to do with the product, but the VTech is pretty darn sleek looking and gives you the style you want along with functionality. Along with the ability to rotate the camera and a wide angle lens option, you also have the option of turning off the video and setting it so that it mutes the monitor until your little one makes noise — when it detects noise the audio and video will turn back on so you see your baby is awake. This is seriously my FAVORITE feature — it’s so nice to have a silent monitor beside my bed in the middle of the night until my baby wakes for a feeding.
Add to everything I’ve just said, the VM4261 comes equipped with features that can be used as your child enters the early stages of independence and on. And as your household grows, you can easily add additional monitors to the system so you can keep an eye on multiple rooms at once — and the screen will even split so you don’t have to jump between the different monitors. SO handy, right?
3. Infinity Nursing cover
Lastly, I would recommend you include a nursing cover on your baby registry — but not just any nursing cover will do! I’ve tried several and talked with others about their experience with theirs…and have only found one that solves all my problems and needs so effortlessly. You need to look for an infinity nursing scarf that has a screen so you can see your baby.
I can’t tell you how many times I get comments on my nursing cover from other moms — often commenting on how it’s better than a traditional infinity nursing scarf because it goes around your neck and you’re able to look inside at your baby the whole time.
My daughter Olivia helped me showcase how the infinity nursing scarf works in the picture above. ๐ Another plus side to this specific type of nursing cover is that it is extremely lightweight — most other nursing covers are thicker and my children would sweat under it by the time they finish eating. All around, this is my favorite nursing cover and I recommend it and gift it to everyone who is expecting!
There You Have It — 3 baby must-haves!
I hope you found these helpful — all three of them are baby must-haves in my book.ย Especially the VTech VM4261! I’ve gotten such fantastic use out of all three products with my two children…and I am sure I’ll continue to use them for anymore children that come along! ๐
Let me know what’s highest on YOUR baby must-haves list? What’s the first product you refer to friends who are expecting? I’d love to find out more things to make raising children a little bit easier. ๐

I became really good at discreet nursing since both my boys refused to nurse if I used any kind of a cover!

The VTech is vital. I couldn’t believe the difference with a similar one a few years ago when I had my grandkids for the day or night. And a sleep sack made me a believer. Even my DIL started using them after I told her how much I loved them.

Totally agree! I got an infinity nursing scarf for my 2nd and it was a million times better than always lugging around a blanket. Baby monitors are another staple.
