Pixi Beauty released their newest #PixiPretties collab with three new Youtubers at the beginning of the year and I was instantly intrigued with the Pixi and Weylie Hoang Dimensional Eye Creator Kit. A collection that included an eyeshadow palette and eyeliner? Yes, please! But is it worth the price? That’s what we are hashing out today!
Pixi and Weylie Hoang Dimensional Eye Creator Kit
What to Expect with this Kit
This Pixi and Weylie Hoang collaboration includes a 6-pan eyeshadow palette and 2-in-1 black kohl pencil and liquid liner duo. You can not purchase these items separate, but considering the usual pricing of Pixi Beauty products, I am honestly surprised and pleased to see that this only costs $18-$20 (depending on the retailer). For perspective — Pixi sells liquid liners for $12.59, gel liners $14, and last year they sold a 12 pan eyeshadow palette for $24.

Package Quality
The packaging for the eyeshadow palette isn’t anything super fancy, but it is keeping with Pixi’s usual esthetic and quality. The cover is a clear plastic, but it snaps shut securely. The eyeliner duo isn’t anything special, but it is very functional and I’ve been using it for a solid month and have had no malfunctions of any kind with either product in this kit.
Swatches & Tutorial
Now it’s time for the swatching and quick tutorial using the Pixi and Weylie Hoang kit. Here’s a picture of them all already swatched, but if you want to see me do it live — and also give you swatches of these colors on my eyes — watch the video below!
What do you think of how they swatch? I’d love to hear in the comments!
Application & Blendability
As you saw from the swatches, I thought each shadow blended beautifully. And with a good base down, they can build up nicely. The glitter shade Gurl definitely needs a glitter glue underneath it or you will not get the full intensity and beauty of this shadow…and you’ll also get glitter falling out on your face throughout the day. But with a glitter glue — this one is my recommendation (use code AGAPELOVE15 tosaves 15%) — the results are really blindly beautiful. The shade Beautis isn’t very deep and when use on the eyes is only a shade or two deeper than Sista, so I do wish that they had made that matte shade a good bit deeper. It would’ve brought more versatility to the palette.
Performance
You are not going to get a very smokey look or be able to really deepen up an eye look with this palette — Beautis just isn’t deep enough and Bomb has too much shimmer to give the depth that a matte brown could. But besides that, all around I was very pleased with this palette and the looks I could get from it. I could see this being a very work appropriate palette, and then you have that gorgeous Gurl shade to bling it out for a night out.
The 2-in-1 duo is a really nice duo! Felt tip liquid liners aren’t my favorite to use, but I will say this is the best felt tip liner I’ve tried! It is such an intense black — I love it! The finish isn’t matte, it’s definitely shiny. You do want to be careful to let it dry before moving your eyes around too much, or I could see it transferring if you have hooded eyes. Do be aware that this is the type of liquid liner that once it’s set…it’s set! Which is great for use throughout the day, but can make it a bit tedious to remove at night. The gel liner side works nicely. It isn’t the most intense black, but you can build it up nicely. Lasting power wasn’t amazing on my waterline, but very few hold up on my water eyes. Overall, I think this duo would be perfect for anyone who likes/prefers felt tip liquid liners.
My Overall Thoughts
I recommend this duo! As I said, you aren’t going to get a wide variety of looks, but you will get some really nice, beautifully-blended eye looks that can be for any occasion. The glitter “Gurl” shade is a bit finicky to deal with, but if you use it right…it can look so metallic and beautiful! And the eyeliner duo works well. It’s not a perfect kit — it has it’s pros and cons like any makeup product — but considering BOTH of these products come in a kit for only $18 at Target…I really think you won’t be disappointed! If you like the look of this palette, know that the quality is there!
