I’ve always been curious about lip plumping devices, but never enough to invest in one. I’ve always liked the size of my lips. Sure, if my top lip was a tad bigger it would be nice — but that’s not typically how lips are naturally. So why did I agree to test out the PMD Kiss Lip Plumping System? Well, just keep on reading to find out! 😉
My Experience with the PMD Kiss Lip Plumping System

My Reasons For Using a Lip Plumper
So the main reason I decided to give this specific lip plumping device a try is that it claims to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles on your lips. And that is something I could get down with — I naturally have very liney lips. I like sharing lip swatches on my Instagram page, but I’m not going to lie that sometimes the lines in my lips are so defined…I’m tempted to use photoshop (but I don’t! I promise 😉 )
As I was reading more about the benefits of the PMD Kiss Lip Plumping System, I was really curious to give it a try. And it had a very unique tip, too — most of the lip plumpers I have seen (both the cheap and more expensive) tend to just have one large opening that you put both your lips into and it vacuums them up for a few seconds. With this innovative device it works on one section of your lips at a time using very gentle pulses. So if your bottom lips are full and smooth enough, you can use this device to just improve the texture or plumpness of your upper lip. That really sold me on the PMD Kiss!
How Did I Use the PMD Kiss?
They give you really great instructions when you purchase your lip plumping device but, as I said, I wasn’t looking for crazy-plumping, drastic results. I just wanted improvement in reducing the lines of my lips while still having my lips look and feel like my natural ones. 🙂 If you weren’t aware, the PMD Kiss Lip Plumping System has two different settings — one a bit more intense than the other. After a bit of experimenting I found that my preferred use for this device was to do 10 pulses on the light setting for each area of my lip…or, if I was in a hurry, 5 pulses on the more intense setting. 😛 You can totally do more pulses if you want more extreme and noticeable results — but as I’ve said several times, I wasn’t looking for plumper lips…just smoother lips. 🙂
So…How Did it work For Me?
I almost forgot to mention, but the PMD Kiss Lip Plumping System only works if you’ve charged it. I was a bit concerned that this would limit or hinder my use of it — I mean, how often would I have to charge it? But I was very pleasantly surprised to find out that after doing the initial charge…I haven’t had to recharge it yet! And it’s been over a month. So the battery power on this little device is great.
Getting back to the main question…did the device work to smooth out my lip lines? Well, as always, I like you to be the judge of that before I give you my opinion! 😀 What do you think?
* Please keep in mind, in my ‘after’ picture I had just finished getting a cold sore. So if the coloring of my lower lip looks weird or flakey…that’s due to recovering from the cold sore. Not the PMD Kiss device.
Let me know your thoughts down below! For me, personally, I think that it did work to improve the lines in my lips. Specifically on my top lip — which is where I tended to focus on as I’ve been using this device over the past months. Sometimes, if I was in a hurry, I would just use the PMD Kiss Lip Plumping System on my upper lip and skip my bottom lip all together.
How long do the results last?
The results I get aren’t drastic, but at the same time I do see an improvement in my lips. How long does it last? I would say it lasts a good 4-6 hours — and if I am diligent to keep my lips coated with a moisturizing lipstick or a lip balm, I would say they continue to look smooth a lot longer. Which might be a con for you, if you are expecting this device to give you results that last for days.
Also, The plumping serum is the best I’ve tried!
I wanted to make sure I touched on the PMD Kiss Smart Lip Plumping Serum, as they included a small tube with the PMD Kiss Lip Plumping System. I typically stay away from plumping lip glosses and serums, as the ones I’ve tried in the past have actually stung a bit. But this serum doesn’t feel like anything, really. Just a very thick, but smooth, type of lip balm. A little goes a long way, so I don’t see myself running out of this quickly. But when you DO run out…the replacement is kind of pricey! It’s double the size of the tube you get with your PMD Kiss Lip Plumping System purchase, but it’s $30.
So is it worth the price?
If you are wanting to invest in a lip plumper that will improve the condition of your lips safely — without it feeling like your vacuuming them off your face (lol!), then I think the PMD Kiss Lip Plumping System is the best one to go for! It definitely isn’t cheap — you really have to look at this device as an investment. I, personally, will continue to use my PMD Kiss this year, especially on the days I need to do a bunch of lip swatches. Let me know if you’d like to see an update on both my PMD Personal MicroDerm and PMD Kiss devices that I now own later on this year! 😉
As you can tell from my before/after pictures, the results you get are NOT incredibly drastic like you might’ve thought. But it does do something to plump and smooth. So I think it really comes down to you — is it worth the investment for you. Below I’ve linked a few other fellow beauty blogger’s posts who tried out the PMD Kiss Lip Plumper and shared their results. Because you don’t want to just take one person’s word on a product. We all have different experiences!

My Nail Polish Obsession says
Too bad the results don’t last longer, because you can see a small difference!
Katie Marie says
I know, I really wish it did! But it is nice for filming, lol
Kristi V BeginNails says
I could see the difference in the lines in the 2nd photo, but I prefer the 1st photo as I like the lines. 🙂 I’m an odd duck though.
Katie Marie says
LOL!!! Love it!
MarciaF says
I want both plumping and less lines! I wish the effect lasted longer than just 6 hours because I have been thinking about getting it.
Katie Marie says
Yeah, I wish it did, too!
Courtney says
I would love to see my lips have less lines!
Katie Marie says
lol, no lines is nice!
Glamorable says
I heard a lot of great things about this device!
Katie Marie says
It’s a handy tool to have — I love it when doing lip swatches 🙂
Never Say Die Beauty says
You have such great lips to begin with that it’s hard to improve on something almost perfect already! I have a manual lip plumper, and it does make a temporary change. I think this one would be so much easier to use.
Katie Marie says
This one is really quick and easy, and I love that it doesn’t do both my lips at once. That way I can kinda “spot treat” the areas I think need more and avoid those that don’t need it, lol
The Jedi Wife says
My lips are definitely filled with lines (thanks, genetics!) so I’d be eager to try it for that alone as well!
Katie Marie says
Yeah, smoothing out the lines is nice!
PolishandPaws says
The difference is subtle, but I can see a change in the lines. It’s not something I’ve ever really considered though.
Katie Marie says
Yeah, you can definitely see improvement — it’ll just depend on the person if it’s worth the investment to them 🙂
Kathryne says
Good to know your honest thoughts! I appreciate it a lot
Katie Marie says
You’re very welcome!
25 Sweetpeas says
Too bad it’s only temporary but they looks great in the before pics!
Katie Marie says
I know!!!
Nichole says
man, this is not for me at all. Has science gone too far? 😉
Katie Marie says
LOL!!! 😛
Ehmkay Nails says
Thanks for your honest review!
Katie Marie says
You’re very welcome!
Krystal E. says
I don’t think I’d spend the time for something like this. It’s one aspect of my body that I don’t care enough to enhance at this time. Totally understand from the photographing aspect when you’re working but for my every day? Meh.
Katie Marie says
It DOES take time, and you have to use it consistently to see results. Which I can be so bad about, haha!
Painted Fingertips says
This seems just strange to me honestly! Although it’s cool that it worked for what you wanted!
Katie Marie says
lol, no worries! it is a strange device…but less strange than most lip plumping devices, if you can believe it!
LittleNuclearReactor says
Very interesting! I’ve never tried any of these types of devices before. I’m still on the fence on whether or not they’d be sometime I’d be interested in. But I’ll keep this one in mind if do decide to venture into lip plumping devices!
Katie Marie says
Glad it was helpful!
Shilpa Gandotra says
Your lips look perfect even in the before pic! Im too scared to try this out
Katie Marie says
Awww, you’re so sweet!
Yvette Price says
Nice Review, your lips look rosy in the after shot.
Katie Marie says
Yes, I do love the color it gives my lips!
Stacie @ wacie.com says
It might just be the lighting, but it looks like it added a bit of color, too!
Katie Marie says
It does add some color — a really nice rosey flush. Even just putting lip balm over them, it almost looks like I put on a gloss 🙂
