Algenist has always been that brand I’ve wanted to try. I love when cosmetics are packed full of, and focus on, skincare to help improve your skin. These Reveal Concentrated Drops do just that and I’ve enjoyed adding them into my makeup routine!
Algenist Concentrated Drops
Limited Edition Drops & Glow Illumining Drops | Retail: $22
Along with some skincare (that I have not had the opportunity to try yet), they sent their limited edition Drops & Glow Luminizing Duo and two mini sizes of their Concentrated Color Correcting Drops in Green and Apricot. All four of these bottles are about half the size of the full size, so the luminizing duo is a really great deal for the price.
Reveal Concentrated Luminizing Drops | Full Size Retail: $38
The limited edition duo set has the shades Champagne and Rose and is a really nice liquid highlighter. Which, if you keep up with what’s trending, is really popular right now. The drops that everyone is talking about (from Cover FX) scare me with it’s intensity, to be honest. It seems so crazy pigmented. These Algenist Concentrated Drops, on the other hand, are more natural on the skin. And they’re still really pigmented!
They’re all packaged in little glass bottles with a dropper top. It’s not personally my favorite when it comes to working with liquids, but it still does the job. The luminizing drops are very beautiful, it looks very natural on the skin. No glitter chunks, it blends out very beautifully. Overall, I enjoy them both!
Reveal Concentrated Color Correcting Drops | Full Size Retail: $38
The color correcting drops were packaged exactly like the illuminating drops. The apricot shade is supposed to correct dark circles and discoloration while the green helps counter redness (such as acne spots). These are both very sheer formulas — I view them more like a tinted serum. I’m going to be honest, when I first used these I was skeptical. They were so thin I couldn’t see them making any difference. But they actually really do!
As you can see from the swatches, (the color correcting drops are on the left) it really doesn’t give much coverage, but it does give the skin a very natural and subtle tinge of color. For example, you could use the apricot under your eyes and the green on any red spots and you could be done and out the door — you don’t have to cover these with concealer or foundation! So that is a definitely ‘PRO’ to this formula. It looks so natural on the skin and if you apply it very precisely it will help neutralize the discoloration without making your face look green or peachy. 😛
With that in mind, because it is so sheer, it doesn’t completely cancel out the discoloration either. I can still see some redness and dark circles if I just use these Algenist Reveal drops, but they are more faint than having nothing at all. Also, Algenist claims that with consistent use these drops will help to correct your dark circles and red spots. I did not use these exclusively or consistently enough to verify those claims (I would image it would take a good month of use), but that is nice to know when you’re using these products that it isn’t just ‘makeup’. It has some skincare benefits too!
Are These For Everyone?
No. Not saying they’re not good, but these aren’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea. If you enjoy that flawless, full coverage look with a highlight you can see from space every day…these are not going to be worth the effort. If you’re more of a natural, no-makeup-makeup kind of girl, than either of these would be a wonderful investment.
The Algenist Reveal Concentrated Illuminating Drops look so beautiful and natural on bare skin, you can’t even tell you have makeup on. It just looks like you have a healthy glow to your cheeks. And the Algenist Reveal Concentrated Color Correcting Drops work just as well alone as with makeup. I’ve definitely been reaching for these on the days I don’t have time for makeup, but I want just a little help with color correcting. 🙂

I enjoyed using these, but I agree with you, they aren’t for everyone! I think they’re pretty sheer and some people might want more coverage! Overall, they are really good!

Yeah, they’re definitely for people who enjoy the light, natural look when it comes to color correcting. 🙂

Those are fun to try, but not that successful on me. Their glow drops I LOVE though.
