Rodial Skincare & Makeup – Review

January 20, 2017 Katie Marie 11 Comments

prom dress NZI’ve seen Rodial skincare on the web before and always thought the packaging looked sleek and the skincare names unique. Snake serum? Bee venom? Dragons blood? Tell me you’re not intrigued?! As you can imagine, I was excited when they reached out to see if I would like to try out some of their products and even more excited when I received several products from the dragons blood line as well as one from the snake serum line. How fun, right? (How do they even get dragons blood, is my question! ๐Ÿ˜› )

I don’t typically state this, but I do want to share with you that when brands send me products for review as “pr samples”, I do not promise a review, let alone a good one. When I agree to receive the product, I make sure to communicate that while I will give the products a good test run, it’s ultimately up to me if I will feature the products in a post give them a dedicated review, or do nothing. I just wanted to mention that again, in case you were not aware or maybe weren’t sure how I run From My Vanity. ๐Ÿ™‚

Rodial Skincare & Makeup

Dragons Blood Discovery Kit

Retail: $58 | Click for More Information & Ingredient List

Rodial Dragons Blood Discovery Kit | Dragon's Blood Cleansing Water Dragon’s Blood Cleansing Water | Full Size (7.04 oz) Retails for $36

Deluxe Sample Size is 3.4 oz: I don’t typically care for micellar water-type products to remove my makeup, but I actually have been enjoying using this to cleanse my face first thing in the morning. In my mind a water cleanser like this is a lot gentler to my skin, and I’ve been using it daily for the last month. And I still have a lot of product left, so a little goes a long way.

Would I repurchase? Probably not. If I am going to invest in skincare, I would prefer to put the money in serums, moisturizers, or oils that will sink into my skin and help to repair my skin. In my mind, this is just like using water on my face in the morning…though, granted, it has a lot more beneficial ingredients than water, lol ๐Ÿ˜›

Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Tonic | Full Size (3.2 oz) Retails for $42Rodial Dragons Blood Discovery Kit | Dragon's Blood Hyaluronic Tonic

Deluxe Sample Size is 1.7 oz: I’ve really been enjoying this! I haven’t used a spritz-on toner before, but I love it! It feels very refreshing and cooling on my skin. The spritz on the one in the kit wasn’t the finest mist, but it did the job. Though toward the end, when it was almost out, it felt more like it was spiting on my. But, it felt great and didn’t break me out, which is awesome. I can’t say the lasting benefits of it, since I was only able to use it about a month…but definitely didn’t have any bad results!

Would I repurchase? After experiencing a spritz on toner…I am definitely going to be purchasing another one like this. If I don’t come across a different product that sparks my interest to test out, then I probably will repurchase. I really, really like it!

Rodial Dragons Blood Discovery Kit | Dragon's Blood Scultping GelDragon’s Blood Sculpting Gel | Full Size (1.7 oz) Retails for $98

Deluxe Sample Size is 0.30 oz: This was the hardest one for me to test out because…did you notice the amount of product that came in the kit? Yeah…not much. :-/ I think I used it for a little over a week, just once at night before bed. Definitely not long enough to see if I could see any results or if I even liked it. It felt nice going on. It’s like a cross between a silicone-texture and a gel-texture. ๐Ÿ™‚

Would I repurchase? The price tag is steep on this one, but I really am curious to see what lasting results I would get from using this for an extended time. So…I’m thinking of saving up points at Ulta and snagging on during the 20% off coupon code, if Rodial skincare is included. ๐Ÿ™‚

Rodial Dragons Blood Discovery Kit | Dragon's Blood Hyaluronic MoisturiserDragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Moisturizer | Full Size (1.78 oz) Retails for $62

Deluxe Sample Size is 0.34 oz: I used this for a little over two weeks as my night time moisturizer and really enjoyed it. It wasn’t a very thick moisturizer, which was great for my oily skin. It sunk into my skin very quickly, didn’t leave any tackiness, and definitely gave my skin a very healthy, glowing look.

Would I Repurchase? Yes. If I finish my current night time moisturizers, and don’t have anything else to test out, I will definitely be purchasing this. The size in the kit wasn’t that big, so I would definitely like to see how I enjoy it over a longer period of time.

Would I Repurchase the Discovery Kit? No. Mainly because it didn’t give me enough product to accurately test and see if I liked the moisturizer, and definitely not enough for the sculpting gel. ๐Ÿ™

Snake Moisturizer O2 SPF 15

Retail: $120 | Click for More Information & Ingredient List

Rodial Snake Moisturizer O2 SPF 15 | ReviewIf the name of this product doesn’t intrigue you, I don’t know what will. Snake moisturizer?? I was so excited to give this a try. I am not sure if it was the SPF or not…but whenever I used this I felt like it never fully sank into my skin. It reminded me of the sunscreen my mom would slather on me during the summer as a kid. I suppose in that way it really acts as a barrier between my skin and the world, but the real deal breaker for me was that when I would apply makeup over it, it frequently balled up as I was blending in my foundation. Ain’t nobody got time for that…and least, not a makeup addict! ๐Ÿ˜›

Would I Repurchase? For the reasons stated above, no. I used it daily for almost two weeks and didn’t notice any drastic difference in my skin. And since it made my makeup apply weirdly, it’s just not worth it to me.

Rodial Eyeshadow Palette

Retail: $40 | Click for Ingredient List & More Information

Rodial Eyeshadow Palette Rodial Eyeshadow Palette Swatches & ReviewThis palette reminds me of the Naked Basic palettes in that it is very petite in size and has only 6 shades. It does a great job covering the necessities when it comes to creating an eye look, though — it has a matte browbone color, matte black for smoking it out, and two transition colors. There’s only one true shimmer shade in this palette, so I almost consider this an all matte palette.

I love the looks I have created with it. When I want an easy, everyday matte look, I’ve been reaching for this palette. It’s super slim, too, making it ideal for travel. The outside packaging feels luxe, like NARS packaging. Love it! All the shades swatch beautifully and perform equally as well on the eyes. They’re not as soft as a LORAC PRO palette, but not as dry as a Urban Decay Naked palette either — it’s found a happy spot right in between them.

Would I repurchase? If it ever became available at some place were I have a rewards program…then yes! I love how the shades are very neutral or cool-toned (you know I love those cool colors!) and it’s the perfect one-stop-shop kind of palette for that quick everyday look. I would only repurchase if I could buy it at Sephora or Bloomingdales mainly because of the price. It’s kind of steep for such a small palette, that at the very least I would want to get points for ordering — or even a discount, if it came to Sephora and I got it during a VIB sale! That would be a score!

Rodial Suede Lips

Retail: $26 | Click for Ingredient List & More Information

Rodial Suede Lips | Review & SwatchesI received all three lipsticks that they offer on Bloomingdale’s — Melrose Ave, Big Apple, Rodeo Drive. They swatch beautifully, very creamy, and perfectly pigmented. The formula is not too soft or too hard, making it very easy to swipe these on your lips and go. I am growing to love lipsticks in this pencil form more and more because it makes it easy for a mom on the go to reapply because of the small tip. These lip crayons have vitamin E in them, which is probably why they are so comfortable to wear.

They give you a soft matte finish — which I LOVE! — and lasting power of is very impressive. Especially since this isn’t a liquid lipstick or anything. If I am not eating a hamburger, or something messy, these will stay nicely on my lips for hours. It wears away on the inner lip, of course, but it’s very graceful. not that ugly harsh line that a lot of matte lipsticks give. Reapplying is quick and easy, it layers very well. My one complaint for these lip jumbo sticks would be that they’re not very large, so the price is high considering how much product you get.

Would I repurchase? Yes! I really, really like the formula and lasting power on my lips. And it felt amazing to wear! The shade Big Apple is my favorite and when it runs out…I will need to repurchase! It’s that perfect, everyday mauve shade that I love and I just can’t explain how much I love the formula of these!

Rodial Makeup | Available at Bloomingdale'sOverall I was really pleased with the products from Rodial. Both makeup products are fantastic — I reach for them very frequently — and the skincare I have tried makes me want to try more from this brand.

What have you tried from Rodial? Or want to try? They have so many interesting skincare products, don’t they?

I love the Dragon’s Blood gel, it’s currently one of my top 5 moisturizers that I use regularly! I also have the eyeshadow palette but didn’t have chance to play with it yet.

I’m intrigued by the products. Thanks for an honest review. The names are interesting but I’m curious if the products have animal byproducts.

Yes, they are very unique! If I remember right, I think the dragons blood is from a flower or something… ๐Ÿ™‚

I have heard so many good things about Rodial! I’m intrigued by the skincare stuff, because I’m on a huge skincare kick lately. Also, I hear you on the watery makeup removers; I can’t get micellar water to take my makeup off for anything.

Nice to know I’m not alone! When people talk about it removing all their makeup, I’m like “Sure, if I use 100 cotton rounds and half a bottle!” ๐Ÿ˜›

I think that spray toner got me addicted — now that I used it up, I am already on the hunt for something to replace it!
