HiMirror: A Smart Mirror that Brings Technology to Your Skincare!

December 2, 2016 Katie Marie 16 Comments

hair extensionsYou know I love bringing technology to enhance my beauty routine! When I heard what the HiMirror was all about, I was intrigued. A mirror that can look at your skin and tell you exactly what it needs? Yes, please! When PRIMP asked me if I wanted to share this innovative product with my readers…I said yes. 🙂

The HiMirror: Smart Mirror, Smarter Beauty

What Is a HiMirror?

Retail: $189

African American WigsBasically, HiMirror is like your virtual at-home beauty consultant that’s inside a pretty fantastic, high quality smart mirror. The top of the mirror has an HD camera that is able to take quality pictures of your face, analyze it, and can detect any: dark spots, red spots, dark eye circles, wrinkles, fine lines, pores, and complexion. That way you know what concerns you should be targeting in your skincare routine. It looks at details such as pores, dark spots, redness, fine lines, dark circles, etc.

Once it has analyzed your skin it then suggest skincare products you should implement to start improving the appearance of your skin. The HiMirror save the information from your skin analysis, making it easy for you to keep track of the progress you make.

The Installation Process

The HiMirror is your at-home beauty consultantThe HiMirror comes with all the supplies to either mount it to the wall or stick it onto a larger mirror. But, because my husband is military and we move frequently, I didn’t want something so permanent. Which is why I opted to find a sturdy frame easel to set it on. And since my bathroom is small and has bad lighting, I figured that keeping it on my makeup table would be the best option.

The techie plus for HiMirrorThe HiMirror does require to be plugged into the wall when wanting to access the virtual beauty consultant and the cord they include isn’t very long. Because of this I had to purchase a little extension cord to make it work. The HiMirror also has a USB plug and an SD card slot. It also includes a rubber cover so that no moisturize or dust can get into them.

The HiMirror giving you skin analysisThe security measures for the HiMirror are really impressive — along with having a voice or face recognition requirement in order to access the data on the mirror, it also has a flap that can be closed over the camera when not in use.

How It Works

Before you can use the HiMirror you need to download the HiMirror app, create an account, and use that to connect the mirror to your WIFI. You receive a booklet with step-by-step instructions and I found it very easy to walk through and set it up.

HiMirror is the only Personal Beauty System you'll need!hand gestures!

Better warm up that arm — because that’s the only way you can navigate the HiMirror. When you are first learning how to do the ‘proper gesture’ to get the device to listen to you…you’re probably going to wish it was just a touch screen. At least, that’s what *I* wished! Haha! Give yourself some time and after bit of practice you’ll get the hand of it.

HiMirror is the smart mirror that will change your skin! The skin analysis

Now is the fun part. HiMirror wants to take a picture of your face for it to analyze! I’m just going to come out and say it — the cheerful pose, flattering smile, and perfectly style hair on the example model is a bit misleading. In order to accurately analyze your skin you have to have all your hair off your face, no makeup on, a relaxed face, and your eyes closed. So all that results in a (very unflattering) picture like this one….

HiMirror does face recognition and skin analysisThat is as close as you’re going to get to this picture, haha! 😛 Once the picture is taken the HiMirror gives you the results of your skin’s condition. It will show you the results on the mirror and you can also access it from the app on your phone.

HiMirror has an app that will sync with your smart mirrorI honestly wasn’t sure what sort of results to expect. I was relieved to see that the scores weren’t bad. The two areas that I need the most improvement are: my hyper pigmentation (thank you, acne!) and dark circles (thank you, baby girl!).

HiMirror is the smart mirror that gives you smarter beauty!Smart Mirror, Smarter Beauty

This is a very new, innovative, mirror on the market. I was so excited to be able to get one to test out and see what I thought. There are still a few aspects of the HiMirror that aren’t in full working order (i.e. the beauty box) but I look forward to when they update the system and I can begin keeping track of everything I use on a daily basis.

What do you think of this personal beauty system? Is the HiMirror a smart beauty mirror that you would consider investing into? Skincare is the best investment you can make when it comes to beauty.

It’s a great feeling, owning a mirror like this. I feel so fancy, innovative, and in control of the health of my skin!

This is fascinating, I can see further uses as the technology develops, like make-up tutorials that show you where and how to apply on your actual face! Actually, I should probably copyright that idea myself!
