If you didn’t know…I LOVE matte liquid lipsticks. Even before it really took off as a trend, I was ALL about that matte lip and anytime I can try a new one I do a little happy dance, of course! Highlight Cosmetics liquid lipstick is a new product on the market and when they offered to end me a lipstick to try…well, how could I say no?!

The box packaging is CUTE!
The ‘H’ at the end of the box is actually a cut out so that when the lipstick originally arrives you can see your lipstick shade through it. I didn’t know what shade they were sending, but was thrilled when I saw it was this Moroccan Spice. Totally my type of shade! The formula is really smooth and pigmented. It’s liquidy…but still thick and creamy — in fact, it reminds me a lot of my favorite formula, Smashbox Always On!
They use natural products to make them!
I do like that this company uses things like turmeric, kelp, safflower, and green tea in their formula. It makes me feel better about wearing lipsticks so often. ๐
I will admit I was a little taken aback by the price of these lipsticks, but that was before I realized that these Highlight Cosmetics Liquid lipsticks are a high end product/brand. Depending on what you compare them against they can be a few dollars more or less expensive.
It takes a decent amount of time to dry
Not that it takes a LONG time, but I would give it a full minute or so to set before going about your day, or else you’re likely to get lipstick on your teeth. ๐ If my lips are in really good condition (meaning: well moisturized, no flakes or dry patches) this Highlight Cosmetics liquid lipstick looks amazing for a good 3-4 hours with light eating and drinking.
I do not find that it layers well, though, which poses a problem for me if I planned to wear it the whole day. If I want it to really look good I need to remove the lipstick entirely and reapply. This might not be a big issue for you, but it is something I wanted to point out.
I am really 50/50 on this lipstick. I love the shade I got and will totally use this baby again and again, but it hasn’t taken the place of my favorite liquid lipstick line, so I doubt I will repurchase. It is a great formula, however, with awesome packaging (reminds me of THESE products) and totally worth a splurge if you think this is the type of formula you will enjoy!

Thank you, glad the swatch video was helpful!

that is my main trouble with matte liquid lipsticks. After eating, they crumble…and you can’t layer.
Katie G says
Always so annoying!

This is a lovely, wearable shade on you! Matte liquid lippies always dry to some extent or the other, but the staying power overrides the dryness for me. Love your mani!

Thanks girl, I used a stamping plate, for once! <3

I tried one of these too! It was actually my first liquid lipstick, so I didn’t really have anything to compare it to, but I thought it was all right. It’s the reason I went out and finally tried some other liquid lipsticks. Anything that doesn’t come off on a glass is good with me!
Katie G says
Yes, I love a lipstick that allows me to drink and not get the glass a mess!

That colour suits you perfectly.
