LORAC PRO 3 Palette – Detailed Review, Swatches, and Eye Looks!

June 9, 2016 Katie Marie 15 Comments

A LORAC PRO 3 Palette Review, so detailed! It’s finally here! Ever since I shared this post, I’ve been checking my Ulta emails daily waiting for the new PRO 3 palette to become available. And. Just as I hoped. They gave early access to Platinum members! *insert little happy dance* I purchased this baby within 5 minutes of receiving the email and have been using it daily since it arrived in order to get this review up to you pronto!

The LORAC PRO 3 palette isn’t available on the Ulta website yet, but it should be available there on June 26th and at other retailers on July 3rd. So stay tuned! 😉

LORAC PRO 3 Palette in the box!In typical PRO palette fashion, this PRO 3 palette comes with a deluxe size sample of their Behind the Scenes Eyeshadow primer. I’ve said this many times — and reviewed it here — but this has been my holy grail eyeshadow primer and while this isn’t a full size…it lasts forever!

Peak at the shades in the LORAC PRO 3 Palette! The shadows in this PRO 3 palette are much more neutral than their previous palettes — PRO 1 had all warm-tone colors and the PRO 2 had all cool. So it makes it more attractive to a wider range of skintones, which I really like. And unlike the previous two palettes there really isn’t any ‘pop of color’ in this palette. Which is fine by me — the PRO 3 palette is a true nude-lover’s dream!

Collection of LORAC PRO Palettes!I don’t know if you noticed, but the price for the pro palettes have now gone up by $2. They planned this well, though, in making the change when they released a new palette because I was too excited to get my hands on it to fuss over the extra bucks. And at least you still get the eyeshadow primer. I’ll live 😛

Eye looks created using the LORAC PRO 3 palette! Here are three looks I created using this palette. The middle shade I used all matte (my favorite!) and the other two used a shimmer shade on the lid. The matte shades are all outstanding — I was able to use each one and have no complaints. The shimmers were a bit trickier…more on that in a moment, let’s look at swatches!

I shared both rows of swatches on my Instagram (make sure you follow me for sneak peaks of upcoming posts!) All the mattes have great pigmentation and are incredibly buttery. The formula for the matte shades in the PRO palettes are by far my favorite type of matte, hand down. And this PRO 3 palette is outstanding!

Okay, now let’s talk about the shimmers. The first two shades, Light Gold and Almond Pearl, are much more of a satin shade, and if you expect that out of it you won’t be as disappointed that it’s not very shimmery. Medallion feels a bit chunky when you go to use it, but besides some extra fall out, it still performed well. Dark Mocha is a beautiful dark color, but it’s more of a glitter than shimmer (do your eyes before foundation…or you’ll sparkle all day!) The rest of the shimmer shades in this palette are perfectly shimmery and go on without any issues. My favorite aspects of the PRO 3 palette are definitely the matte shades, but I enjoy using the shimmers, too.

Solid Color Vinyl Photography Background (backdrop roll)The packaging, as you can see, is the same type as the previous two palettes. The feel is the same, it has the same mirror…everything except the color. And I really like the nude color, too! The sleekness of these palettes make it ideal for taking it on trips — I never leave on vacation without at least one of these palettes! So it comes down to the big question: do I recommend the PRO 3 palette?

Close up of the LORAC PRO 3 palette!YES! It’s the perfect nude palette — I recommend it over the popular Urban Decay palette, and this PRO 3 palette is less money! But be aware that the lighter shimmer shades did not live up to my expectations as an all-over shimmery lid color. They’re much more satin, but I don’t mind that as I’ve switched to using them as a highlight to brighten my brow bone, inner corner, and even my cheekbones and it works well for that. So at least I still get use out of those shades and I am happy with that!

But do you need it if you have either the PRO 1 or PRO 2? Now there’s the trick question! I would say you’ll have to answer that for yourself. If you don’t own any of the PRO palettes, though, I would highly recommend you start with this PRO 3 palette! It’s a nice middle ground between the first two and is more a true nude-filled eyeshadow palette.

What do you think of LORAC’s new PRO 3 palette? Will you be purchasing it? Which PRO palette is your favorite?

The LORAC PRO 3 palette looks stunning -- like a nude lovers dream!

I would love to see a comparison of all three Pro palettes. I have the first one, and I just don’t *love* it…but I dig the brand overall.

I love this more than Naked 1 and Naked 2, definitely! I’m trying to talk myself out of buying it – I’m on a strict six-palette limit this year and have bought two already, and I KNOW the Holiday palettes will reel me in 🙁

I haven’t bought a Lorac palette in ages but this looks nice. My one reservations are the glitters – those don’t play so nice with my aging eyes.
