It’s always fun to discover new brands and today I have a new one to introduce to you called YoungBlood. Since I’ve never tried anything from this brand, naturally I was curious to see how their eyeshadows performed (being an eyeshadow junkie, and all :-P) If you want to hear my thoughts on their Perfect Pair Mineral Eye Duos — and see swatches and a few eyeshadow looks that I created, too — than just keep reading!
My Review of YoungBlood Perfect Pair Mineral Eye Duos
There are four different duos in the this Perfect Pair Mineral Eye Duo collection – Desire, Graceful, Charismatic, and Virtue and they’re priced at $28 each. Each duo is very creamy and soft and nicely pigmented with the exception of Desire. Not that it wasn’t a good duo, but it wasn’t as pigmented as the other shades.
Let’s run through the different duos and I’ll share with you my swatches and the eye looks I created using each duo!
First up we have Charismatic. And this was personally my favorite duo (I know, because it’s the neutral duo!) It contained a really pretty shimmer pinky-neutral shade along with a matte, dark brown. The perfect duo to use to create an eye look, all by itself, as you can see from the picture above. 🙂
Next is Desire and it leans very ‘dusty’ with its colors — one is a semi-matte lavender shade and the other is a matte blue-purple. With this do I used the blue all over the lid and the lavender shade on the inner corner and very, very lightly on the browbone. I brought in a cool-tone brown from another palette do define the outer edge of the eye look.
The next duo is Graceful. This duo was the ‘boldest’ of the collection with a peachy shimmer and a matte blue. With this eye look I used the peach all over the lid and used the blue in the outer corner and blended it up through the crease. I brought in a very light brown as my transition shade and finished off with a skintone shadow under my eyebrows.
(By the way, Am I the only one who things I look “off” when I don’t do an eyelook that includes a winged liner?? I feel like my eyelook is ‘naked’ without it, haha!)
Last would be the duo called Virtue and this was another favorite of mine. The matte white shade was a bit too bright for my skintone and personal preference, but the shimmery burgundy shade is gorgeous. As you can see from the look above, I used a bit of MAC Fix+ to apply it wet (which you can do with any of these duos) and absolutely loved how it turned out. I had to bring in a transition color through the crease, but besides that this eyelook is created with just these two colors.
I didn’t have any issues with the lasting power of these shadows — the all held up nicely without creasing. And it’s great to know that these eyeshadow duos are made from minerals, and have better ingredients and are better for your skin. Yes, the pricetag is a higher than what can be found at your local drugstore, but you’re paying for quality ingredients (and pretty sleek packaging, I might add. Love it!)
I’ll be honest and say mineral makeup never interested me, because I’ve never been a fan of loose eyeshadows (and that’s the only type of mineral eyeshadow I had experience with, before this). But after experiencing how great this eyeshadows perform, how creamy they feel, and how nicely they blend together…let’s just say that YoungBlood duo eyeshadows has made a believer out of me. Can’t wait to try more mineral products in the future!
