Too Faced Star Dust by Vegas Nay Review & Swatches

September 3, 2015 Katie Marie 42 Comments

Too Faced Star Dust Palette by Vegas Nay // www.FromMyVanity.com #ladykaty92Who’s ready to see up-close pictures, swatches, and eye looks of the new Too Faced Star Dust by Vegas Nay collection?! I’ve been using this palette almost non-stop since it arrived and have been looking forward to sharing my thoughts with you all. Ready to dive in?

About Star Dust by Vegas Nay

Screen Shot 2015-09-02 at 1.15.20 PMToo Faced has teamed up with social media sensation @Vegas_Nay to create this Ulta-exclusive palette! @Vegas_Nay (Naomi Giannopoulos) is an Instagram beauty superstar known for her artistic, beautiful pictorials. This carefully curated collection contains:

  • 12 expertly-curated, exclusive matte and shimmer shades.
  • Signature how-to Glamour Guide with six looks created by Vegas Nay.
  • Deluxe award-winning Better Than Sex Mascara.
  • Deluxe Shadow Insurance Eye Primer.
  • Loose glitter pigment.

A $192 value!

Purchase from Too Faced // Purchase on Ulta.com

My Review

Retail: $45

Too Faced Star Dust Vegas Nay // Box Packaging // FromMyVanity.comAs you would except from Too Faced, the packaging is super cute and high end. Both the outer and inner box has a soft, textured feel to it. They’re the type of boxes that you don’t want to throw away, they’re so nice (though I never know what to do with them, lol)!

Too Faced Star Dust Vegas Nay // Collection // FromMyVanity.comAs already mentioned, along with the eyeshadow palette, this set also comes with loose glitter pigment, deluxe-size sample of their Shadow Insurance eyeshadow primer, and a deluxe-size sample of their Better Than Sex mascara. I’ve used both their eyeshadow primer and mascara in the past, and like them both. The mascara is really great at building up the volume quickly, though if you’re not careful it can start to clump.

Too Faced Star Dust Vegas Nay // Deluxe Samples & Loose Pigment // FromMyVanity.comThe collection also comes with several tutorial-cards (called “Glamour Guides”) of looks that Vegas Nay created using this palette. All are gorgeous, of course, and as you’ll see in a minute, I tried recreating one. ๐Ÿ™‚

Too Faced Star Dust Vegas Nay // Loose Gliiter Pigment Swatch // FromMyVanity.comAnd what about that loose glitter pigment?? I was all sorts of excited to swatch this when it arrived! I wish a picture would do this swatch justice…but it doesn’t even come close! When it hits Ulta stores, I encourage you to hurry in and try it out. If you like glitter, it’ll take your breath away!

Okay, you ready to see some swatches?

Too Faced Star Dust Vegas Nay // Palette Swatches // FromMyVanity.comI didn’t use primer on any of these swatches, just so you know — aren’t they impressive?! All the colors are really pigmented and beautiful, though Show Girl takes my breath away every time, it’s so beautiful! Two of the colors, Jackpot & Follow Me appeared to have a lot more gold glitter in the pan than what shows up when used. Not in a bad way, in my opinion — I really loved using the purple shade in my crease and since the sparkle didn’t show up all that much, it worked really well.

Too Faced Star Dust Vegas Nay // Eye Looks // FromMyVanity.comOn the top picture I used Follow Me in the crease, Pink Pearl on the lid, and a touch of Sin City to darken the outer corner. I also used Chandelier as a highlight. For the second look I used Chandelier all over the lid and brow bone, Millennial in the crease, and Girl’s Night in the outer corner. Two easy looks from this palette, one for day and one for night!

Too Faced Star Dust Vegas Nay // Example & Results // FromMyVanity.comI’m no makeup artist — as you can see — but it was fun to try out my hand at recreating this look. All the colors are really easy to work with. They blend beautifully, I have no issues there. The palette also gives you a nice variety of fun colors and safe colors, so if you’re like me (and not too adventurous, but want to be) you’ll be able to use this palette daily to create your favorite looks, or branch out and be more bold with pops of gold or purple.

Too Faced Star Dust Vegas Nay // Palette Close Up // FromMyVanity.comAll in all, I feel like you can’t beat the value of this Star Dust by Vegas Nay palette. You’re getting a full size palette with 12 different colors, a mascara, a eye primer, and loose glitter pigment for only $45. (Just think about that for a minute….Naked palettes come with the same amount of shadows and cost $54 for just the palette!) This would definitely make an awesome gift for a makeup enthusiast, or even a gal who’s wanting to get into eyeshadows. There are a lot of possibilities here!

Have you bought the Star Dust by Vegas Nay palette yet? Or are you waiting for it to arrive in Ulta stores? Let me know in the comments below!

I received the products mentioned above from Too Faced in the hopes that I would mention them on my blog. Regardless, this does not guarantee a review or feature on my blog.

Rachel, it is beautiful — and so worth the pricetag, in my opinion, when you factor in how many different eyeshadows you get along with the glitter and deluxe samples. ๐Ÿ™‚

I was impressed with many of the shadows in this palette, I can almost get away without using primer on my lids (tho I never will…oily girl problems, lol). But that always says a lot when they show up well without a base ๐Ÿ™‚

Alice, I was so surprised at the price for this set — it’s more affordable than their Chocolate Bar palette, and that just comes with the palette! You gotta grab it!

Too Faced is pretty awesome! They also sell a good primer to use for glitter shadows (which I was kind of surprised they didn’t put in this set instead of the normal eyeshadow primer) but it really helps the glitter adhere to your lid and show up beautifully ๐Ÿ™‚

A lot of gals love their shadows. I think this might be my favorite palette from them….but can’t say for sure. I’ve been trying out the Semi-Sweet palette recently and been really enjoying it, so we’ll see ๐Ÿ™‚

I gotta say that it does look impressive and it looks really gorgeous. You have so much patience in you in doing all of these swatches. This is one of the things that I can never seem to do. I have so many make up here for review and it is taking me forever. I loved how you swatched the eyeshadows. It looks attractive.

Aww, thanks Kathy! It took a bit of patience and a lot of makeup remover wipes, lol! ๐Ÿ™‚ But it’s fun to swatch the shadows and then marvel at how beautiful they are!

It’s nice that the shades are a mix of shimmer and matte, so you can switch it up depending on where you’re going. Although I don’t us make up that much, I really like Too Faced.

Yes, I was REALLY happy about that. No matter what I do with my eyes, I’m ALWAYS using mattes in the crease and outer corner. It’s just my preference, so I was happy to see I could get a complete look without having to reach for another palette ๐Ÿ™‚
