My Thoughts on These Lip Glosses
I’m not a big lipstick junkie, like some gals might be, but I enjoy having a few in my makeup drawers for those days when I feel like adding some shine to my lips. But I’m very picky about the kind of lip gloss I like — it has to feel moisturizing and have a good bit of color pigmentation. If it doesn’t then I just feel like it’s a waste of time to apply.
With that said, I was really pleased with the results I got when I applied these lip glosses! They were nicely saturated with color — not like a liquid lipstick by any means, but just the right pigmentation I like to see in a lip gloss . 🙂
The colors show up a bit more intense in these arm swatches, as expected. Aren’t the so pretty and glossy? I love the intense shine that these glosses give. If you enjoy highlighting the center of your lips, these glosses will do the trick with just the smallest dab! Let’s take a look at them on my lips!
(All the lip swatches are applied over a nude lip liner)
Cookie Dough is a very nude color and (obviously!) was my favorite out of the trio. As much as I try to embrace the brighter colors of life….I am just always drawn to the nudes! I really liked the color payoff for this gloss and also appreciated the fact that it didn’t settle into the fine lines of my lips. It’s the perfect gloss to throw in your purse to have on hand for any occasion.
Next up we have Berry Smoothie. Now this color was a bit tricker to apply, in my opinion. Even with a lip liner underneath, I still had to work with it a bit to keep it from settling into the fine lines of my lips (this might not be an issue for everyone, but I have lots of grooves/lines on my lips and when lipcolors settle into them, my lips look crazy-dry and horrible). If I applied a good amount of this color, though, I could get rid of that ‘liney’ look. And the color is really pretty. Very soft, yet still pigmented.
The last lip gloss I received was Peach Sorbet. I feel like the color isn’t showing up really true in this picture (and I took a million trying to get the right, accurate lighting). I would say it’s a few shades more vibrant in person. It’s hard to tell in this picture, but it definitely gives your lips a peachy/coraly hue, which it’s name suggests. I wish I’d had this color during the spring, it would’ve been so perfect! This color applied perfectly, no issues with it wanting to settle into my lines, as you can see from the picture above. I really liked it!
Check out the applicator for these glosses — it’s a really long, flexible tip that is flat on both sides. I wasn’t sure how this would work when applying the gloss, but I actually really loved it. Because of the flat sides, it really packs on the product and I found that it gave me the perfect amount to coat my lips with without having to dunk it back into the tube. And even though the tip is flexible, I felt like I still had enough control to get a precise application.
If you haven’t been able to tell yet…I really like these Color Luster glosses! Berry Smoothie can be a bit tricky for me, but the other two colors are great! The only thing I forgot to mention is that they do have a ‘sticky’ feel to them on your lips. So if that’s something that bothers you, you won’t like this. The good thing, though, is that I can’t detect a fragrance with these lip glosses. I personally don’t mind when my lip products have a fragrance, but some people do. So good to know!
