I am really, really excited to bring you today’s post! Wal-Mart has challenged me to share the different ways I use my data plan in my daily life — my daily beauty life, that is — and I was totally up for the task! I am constantly using my phone in my day-to-day life for both beauty inspiration and beauty shopping…because you can never have too much makeup, right? Right! ๐
Before we dive into today’s post, I just wanted to let you know that I’m going to be writing on My Newest Addiction‘s blog once a month. *happy dance* ๐ Today was my first post (which you can view HERE) and was a tutorial. Please check it out and let me know what you think. And if you don’t already follow My Newest Addiction…..what have you been doing?? Haha, click over and follow her. You won’t regret it!
So with all that said, just keep reading…. ๐
5 Ways I Use #MyDataMyWay in My Beauty Routine
Well, before I can dive into all the ways I’ve been using my data, I have to quickly mention the fabulous deal I discovered at WalMart. I knew that Wal-Mart sold phones and such, but I wasn’t aware — until recently — that they also offer a cell-phone service: the WalMart Family Moble, to be exact. I went in the other day and purchased a new Alcatel Fierce 2 phone for myself.
For only $29.88 a month (for the first line) Wal-Mart Family Mobile gets you unlimited talk, text, and data, which includes up to 500MB of 4G LTE data*. I think my favorite aspect of this plan is that it’s not a 2 year, or even one year, long contract. It’s not a contract at all, really. It’s a month-by-month service and you can cancel anytime you want. Pretty sweet, wouldn’t you say? ๐
Pinterest Makeup Inspirations
I know I’m not the only girl who does this! Some days, when I really have no inspiration on what I want to do with my makeup, I love to pull up Pinterest and browse the different looks I save in my Makeup Looks folder. There are so many different looks — from complex to simple — it usually only takes me a few moments of browsing before I’ve discovered something that I want to try on my face that day.
Youtube Tutorials
For all you Tati fans who saw it right off, yes I’m watching Glam Life Guru in this picture. ๐ Love her! So, back on track, I think I’m a little addicted when it comes to watching beauty videos on Youtube. I check in on my subscription list on a daily basis and love seeing the new tutorials and different lessons and tricks my favorite beauty guru’s put out. I’m always wanting to learn and improve at my makeup, and being able to hop on my phone and watch tutorials whenever I have a spare moment makes that possible. Who are your favorite beauty guru’s on Youtube?? I’m always looking for new gals to follow!
In-Store Shopping Consulting
If you don’t already have the Ulta app installed on your phone….you really need to! I am using this app constantly to check on prices or look up reviews for a certain product. As you can see in the pictures above, it’s as simple as scanning the item you’re looking at and Ulta will bring you directly to the page that lets you know the price, info, and reviews of that product. This saves me so much time when I’m shopping in the store and am curious what people’s reviews are for that certain product. And with myย unlimited data with Wal-Mart Family Mobile, I never have to worry about using up my data while shopping. Big plus there ๐
Beauty Chats with Friends
This is an obvious one, but you can’t do it without data so I decided to include it. ๐ In the picture above I’m chatting with my friend Anna, from The Beauty Section, about the St. Tropez bronzer she had just tried out. We’re always talking about something beauty related — whether about a new makeup launch or one of our holy grail products. We all have that friend, right? Just can’t go a day without talking about something together.
Reading My Favorite Blogs
If you’re reading this post, then you most likely know what I’m talking about. I have a long list of beauty bloggers that I follow and read on a weekly basis. I can’t always get to a computer, so I’m constantly using my phone to read posts on the go. In this picture I’m reading My Newest Addiction‘s blog. She’s always posting new, exciting content on her blog. ๐ Who is your favorite blogger to read? I would love to discover a new beauty blogger!
So, I’ve shared with you 5 ways I use my phone in my beauty routine. Now it’s your turn! How do you use your data plan to feed your makeup obsession?
And if you’re looking for a new service, be sure to check out other great phones that the Walmart Family Mobile service offers by visiting their website.

I definitely do most of these as well, especially watching YouTube videos like crazy. I love Tati from Glam Life Guru! My other all-time favorite YouTuber is ThatGirlShaeXO, and I love discovering new bloggers/YouTubers as well. Great post!
Anna @ The Beauty Section says
Great post! I pretty much do every single one of these! So glad we have the ability to use our phones in our beauty routine! What would we do without them! ๐

Such a cute post! I use my data in much the same way myself! I especially love my smart phone for YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, online shopping, and catching up on my fave bloggers!

this was such a cute post! I totally use my phone for all those things and more beauty related things! There are two neat apps I use… One is called Snupps and its not just for makeup… But I use it for my makeup.. To catalog all of my makeup. I will eventually have my entire makeup collection there for me to be able to keep track of… Or to use when I shop and want to buy something (but cant remember if I have it already or not!). The other one is called Try it On.. And its an app for maybelline, covergirl and revlon products.. You upload a photo of yourself, and then use the app in the store, scan the bar code and it will virtually try the product on you (your photo) so you can see what it will look like on you before you buy. Its pretty neat. โฅ

I love Laura’s blog, so will be sure to check out your posts there! I use my phone for, among other beauty-related things, organising my makeup and polishes. I have a full list of everything I own in a little file so whenever I shop, I cross-check to find if I am buying a polish I already own. Which probably means I own too much….

I share a data plan with my brother so I try to not do a lot of these on my phone. That’s what my iPad and WiFi are for!

I’m always watching Youtube beauty videos, but I save my data and use Wifi for that. I definitely use a ton of data searching beauty reviews when I’m looking at products in store though!
