Apostolic Clothing is Concerned about Fashion AND Modesty! (Giveaway & Review)

December 17, 2014 Katie Marie 32 Comments

I always love finding these gems on the web. For every girl who shops modestly, you know exactly what I mean! It can be a struggle to find a dress that’s not too short or a cute skirt that isn’t a pencil skirt. Our culture doesn’t encourage modesty in women today — but as a Christan wife, that is my main objective when shopping for clothes. I want clothing that covers those areas meant only for my husband, while still feeling feminine and attractive.

With that point of view in mind, let’s learn more about this brand!

About Apostolic Clothing

“Modesty in dress can be a great outreach but modesty in conversation is even greater!”
Apostolic Clothing is simply a clothing a clothing company ran by Apostolic missionaries who have a passion for offering a line of clothing that is trendy, fashionable and modest.
We offer vintage and modest dresses,
skirts, tops and outerwear for every occasion and are constantly growing
our modest accessories such as unique slips and skirt extenders. We are
a fast growing community that is constantly looking for better ways to
make modesty more convenient for all those who have trouble with
dressing modest while carrying themselves in a fashionable and
professional sense.
Apostolic Clothing is a mission ran
company that supports mission work in Asia. When you purchase from our
store, you are helping us reach the people of Asia and for that we thank
you!

MY REVIEW of Stonewash Mid-Length Denim Skirt

Retail Price: $44.00

First Impression & Packaging:
The skirt looked great! It feels nice and I was a bit surprised that it had a little amount of stretch/give in the fabric. But when I looked back at the website I saw that it the skirt was made from cotton, polyester, and spandex, so that explains that. 🙂

The skirt ran a bit smaller than I expected. I am always a Small when it comes to skirts, but this small is a bit snug in the hips. Not too small, thankfully, but just as a heads up if you want to buy this skirt — take that into consideration. 🙂

Item & Wear:

The site advertises this skirt as a “…classic addition to any wardrobe.” and I agree! I don’t think you can go wrong with this skirt and love the versatility of it. It works great as part of an about-town, running errands outfit, or you can totally dress it up and pull off an elegant evening look. I’ve worn it for both since receiving it, and love it.

I haven’t put this skirt through the wash yet, but when I do I plan to let it air dry to decrease the chances of it shrinking on me. I imagine the color will fade over time as the washes increase, but that’s the beauty of a skirt like this — it still looks great with some fading. I mean, you buy it faded! 🙂

Major Likes & Dislikes:
This is definitely a staple in my closet. I have several different skirts in my wardrobe, but this Stonewashed skirt has jumped to the top. Mostly because it’s new, yes, but also because the style is so chic and cute. I like that the waistband of this skirt comes up relatively high. I can’t count how many skirts I have that sit around my hips — and things can get complicated if I want to wear a shorter shirt with that skirt. But this skirt has you (and your tummy) covered. 🙂

I think the only downside would be that the skirts run a little small in size. And the price is a bit up there. But as those of us who’ve been shopping modest for any length of time know…the prices often are on the higher end. And a great tip is to always wait for a sale, or stalk their Sale page.

Final Thoughts:
The quality of the Stonewash Mid-Length Denim Skirt is great. It doesn’t feel cheap or thin — it actually feels really durable. Not as durable as a jean skirt, maybe, but pretty close. The seams feel really strong and it would appear that this skirt would last in excellent condition for many years. There’s also the option to wear a belt with this skirt (which is a really cute look). All the pockets you seen are useable, even the smallest one.

While $40 is rather expensive for a skirt, this one will last you a very long time. And the beauty of this company is that when you purchase their clothing, you are also helping missionaries in other countries. I think that makes the money spent on this skirt (or any other article of clothing on their site), well worth it.

In store… Christopher & Banks in particular. But I also shop their website. They do trend toward an older look, might not be for you!

I do most of my shopping at Goodwill. Every once in a while I find a great addition to my closest. Several weeks ago I got 6 brand new Christoper and Banks layering tanks (about $17.00 each new) for $1.99 each! That was a blessing as I really needed some!

I tend to shop more in stores because I like to try things on. I have no particular stores, just when I see something I like, I get it!

Where do you tend to do the most shopping when it comes to modest clothing — in store or online?
A little of both. I really like going online to find pictures of styles I like, then I go into the store to try the clothing on and find the best fit. So I actually use both!

    Patty – I've never shopped C&B, but I like classy 🙂

Salinn – Oh, I love Goodwill! You can find some real gems there!

Carolsue – I always love shopping at all the stores I go to. It always helps to try them on.

Kate – I've shopped at old Navy and want to go to Banana Republic sometime soon. It's nice to splurge every now and then, but I do agree it feels great to get a deal at Goodwill. 🙂

Shecki – That's a good way to go. I shop online a LOT and if it doesn't fit I just return it in store. 🙂

SandyHills – I've found a few gems at Target. I love checking out their clearance items 🙂

Dana – I LOVE Pinterest to give me inspiration! And, yes, then I try to find the pieces to make the outfit 🙂

I more often shop in store so I can be sure if the clothing fits however I also shop online but only if I know for sure that the clothing is true to size that fits me and there are coupon codes that I can use for great savings as well as free shipping. Old Navy is an example of this.

Hello! Thanks for asking! So I just reviewed this skirt for the company. But if you check out some of the links in this post, you can find the Apostolic website and look around at all their outfits. They have a lot of skirts and dresses, some that reach to the floor, too. I’m not sure if they do special requests, but you could ask them. 🙂
